KL 2 Bill 2

Recommended Posts

Listening to the BBC Norfolk commentary it sounded like we played really well.

Kings Lynn are a good side; currently 3rd and finsihed 3rd last season in the Southern League Premier Div. Todays perfomance should be a great confidence builder.

It will be an interesting selection dilema for the replay Tuesday.

For those that didn't go today (and a understand that there were those that couldn't make it), you missed a near classic game. It hall the cut and thrust of a good cup tie.

The first half both sides looked aprehensive with Billericay looking the better side. Depite missing two git chances we went one down and that was against the run of play. The first half ended and some of the travelling support agreed that Kings Lynn hadn't played up to the hype some were told and if we wanted it, it was ours for the taking.

So, the second half comenced and the boys were cutting the Kings Lynn defence up, especially down their left. George Lay played some of his best on form football and Bootie and Flack were always looking to put their back four under pressure. Dormer and Hunter, were strong in midfield and it wasn't long when we had a series of corners, one of which was clearly handballed by a KL defender when it came over (a typical non decision from the officials). But not to worry, Bootie came down the right minutes later and crossed a low ball for Flackie to fire into the net.

We continued to look for the winner and to KL's credit they strated to counter to some of our attacks, gradually increasing their home advantage to put in some pressure. It was this that led to their undoing for our second. A clearance, quicky put Flack through on a one on one position (after holding off their donkey no. 5), we were 2 - 1 up. Whatever happened for KL to get the equaliser I couldn't say but 30 seconds after the ref blew up.

With a rather pleasant drive, a top game, I enjoyed the experience and we have a replay at New Lodge and a great chance to introduce those who wish to buy tickets for the Swansea game to real New Lodge Experience!!!

My own disapointment was that Kings Lynn really didn't look the team that they were made out to be.

We created enough chances to win this game comfortably, but unfortunately we didn't get the rub of the green.

Dorms hit the post, what would have been an OG hits the post, two glorious chances it the first ten mins missed, a clear hand ball but no pen given, (Ref said he saw it, but wasn't sure who hand balled it) and chances more a plenty.

Twas a good performance from our lads today, nice to see George back in proper action.

On another day...but that's football

Well done lads.

Should have won it by 2-3 really KL for a team third in the southern premier they looked poor and other than their goals I can't think of them having any other shots on target.

Hopefully their will be a big crowd at NL for the replay with glory hunters their to buy big game tickets

The attitudes by the players today I felt was superb considering the big game next Saturday I expected many of them today to just get through the 90 mins hoping not to get injured and avoiding 50/50 balls etc but none of it

The ball from Paul Abbot (yes that he did something) for Flack's first was top draw from around the half line he picks out Booty in space who goes a bit to wide to shot himself so drags it back into the six yard box for Flack to turn in

For someone who has been out for so long George had another good game following on from his performance v Thurrock which is excellent as the squad was getting rather thin

"Glory Hunters"? I think you surely mean potential future supporters?

This Tuesday is a great opportunity for the club and the team to introduce those that we're just going to see the Swansea game to a "real" non league game and for those "future supporters" to realise the potential of how enjoyable it is to support your local team!!!

Surely it's freindlier, more convienient, ultimately more enjoyable (and cheaper) than going to watch a bunch of Premiership tw*ts pose about the pitch. Time to introduce those people to some "real" football and some "real" emotion...

Well said Gazza. It was the Exeter Trophy game that got me back regularly supporting the club that I'd rarely visited since the Vase years.

The coming week is an excellent opportunity to raise the clubs profile around the district. All new faces through the gate should be encouraged.

I thought it was a strong performance from us today, arguably our best of the season so far and that we were desperately unlucky not to come away with a win from a game that for the vast majority of were far superior in. It's often interesting to read the comparisons between the Southern and Isthmian leagues, but on yesterday's evidence our league is far stronger. I would have swapped Abbo and George round quite early in the piece though as I felt Abbo might have been better equipped (at this stage) to handle their 11, who was their best player and he would have physically dominated their 3 who made Hodgie look like a giant. The only downer for me is that we were unable to hold onto the lead at the end and are still conceding too many overall.

For me, we stick out our best available xi on Tuesday, this is a very winnable tie IMO. If players pick up injuries and miss the Swansea game then that's life. One change I would make for sure though is to get BWG up front against their immobile (football speak for donkies) centre halves as he will destroy them with his pace.

I must admit yesterday rekindled my enthusiam big time and if we can repeat that kind of show on Tuesday we'll be in the next round for sure.

Well done lads!!

Come on you Blues!!!!

A great performance from the lads yesterday. But we should have finished it at their place really.

Great turn out by the fans considering the distance. Well done one and all.

Has to be the best "Football" ground i have been to in my short life as a football fan, and a very friendly bunch of people as well. Not sure how blatent a hand ball has to be for either the ref or the lino to call it but thats the game i suppose.

Onwards to Tuesday if we have the same team on the pitch then we should walk away with the win as i thought they were very average but had the luck of the ball on the day.

Off up the club now to do my bit for the Blue Army.

It was by far the BEST team performance i have seen away this year! - They all really went for it and was a real compliment to have K.L. fans saying afterwards "the best team they had seen at their place for a long long time" -

I really hate singling players out but i thought Dorms and Hunter were simply outstanding.

Yes, tis good to see Georgie back too and getting himself about.

But, i would like to say to ALL the team that the performance was of real top drawer stuff.

Lets hope we can continue like this.

Well done lads !
