Slough Town vs Didcot Town

thought barret and grimm both looked useful - nice to have a midfielder crack a few at goal, though it must be said most were slightly off target.

We certainly got value for money goal wise but it is worrying to have let three in before the half.

Agree with Martin (i think he mentioned it) and chris that Barnard has proved to be a real find, hope we can keep hold of him.

I also think its worth mentioning Abbey's performance for the first 65 mins or so, happy to keep hairing down the wing and put a few crosses in and chased balls down, its just a shame his head dropped and he seemed to give up for the last 15 mins or so.

Murphy made some good runs as well today i thought. It'll be interesting to see him and Woody together when he's back to full fitness.

until some of our players start upping their game then we might as well only put out half a team, harper's distribution was woeful, lee charles has got to learn to shoot and metcalfe might as well hang up his boots i think he only made two decent passes all game most of it he was so far from the player he should have been marking that his lack of pace made no difference, we need players of pace and skill in both midfield and defence and fitness levels need to be higher as exhaustion is the only reason i can think caused the loss of concentration i saw today.

Well i reckon at least we scored 3 and were taking shots throughout the match. Our defence is a shambles, but i think Didcot will be in the play offs at the end of the season.

As for Diddy Red sticking up for another toothless idiot. Why do you think he lost his teeth? Whose stupid enough to go into a crowd of opposition supporters and start goading them when they are getting thrashed? To do it with a small child as well, putting him on his shoulders, was bloody disgraceful.

Great atmosphere in the second half as well.

Ignore this drivel, he don't speak for the majority of Didcot supporters.
I know who this bloke is by your description (not too tricky though!) and I will speak to him about his behaviour yesterday, although I didn't see his antics.
Unfortunately we had one idiot at home recently shouting for Didcot players to break an opponents leg. He was told to belt up and did, so hopefully it won't happen again.
Don't let your opinion of Didcot fans be judged by one dipstick. You will be made most welcome at the Loop in 3 weeks time.

I was wondering who long it would take for the "we got beat by an average side" remark (and not a dig at you Marcus). According to the seasoned opinions on here, as we have been beated all season by average teams, who crap does that make us? The answer is "very crap".

The Good

Second half display was miles better than first. Wilko must have said the right things as we were more up for it. Passing was better and 3 - 3 against Didcot would have been a good result.

Good was also the Slough fans. We kept singing and cheering that I reckon does raise the Rebels and rattle the opposition. It also adds much needed humour when you're losing again.

The Bad

Can't forget the first half. Couldn't pass, couldn't tackle and couldn't seem to care; even the Slough fans were silenced. We seem to have a new player or two each week and whilst some have been good finds (hurry up and return Landy) we desperately need some decent centre backs.

The Ugly

Toothless, idiot of a Didcot fan. Slough response was hilarious

Nice of you to think we might be in the play-offs but letting in 3 goals every game has to stop pretty soon.
Most Diddy fans would say we are a mid-table side, perhaps at best top 8, and I haven't seen much to change that view recently.

I think the second half was much improved on the first, but we did have a few half chances in the first half but were still being stupid at the back. It was good to see us score 3 again but theres no excuses for conceding 6.

Great atmosphere in the second half from behind the goal I dont think we have been that noisy for quite a while.

I think Wilko really kicked them all up the backside at half time, I have never seen him come out on his own like that and you could tell he was not happy. The team also came out as a group for once, which to me implies that they were feeling guilty for letting him down, and they came out a different side (well up front anyway).

Quite simply we need better defenders, we are scoring more regularly in this league but conceding all these silly goals has to stop.

It's not just defenders (although that would help), we need to make teams work harder to get the ball that far in the first place which relies on the whole team.

Most teams this season have found it easy to get the ball deep into our half without much trouble at all whereas we get pressed back and resort to playing hopeful long balls through when put under pressure in our own half.

Totally agree with Ian. It seems to me we sit too deep and are unable to keep the ball so are under constant pressure which would explain conceding 32 goals in 13 league games. Personally feel we need to get in a pacy centre back with good distribution but I suspect that type of player is a bit out of our league.

Totally disagree. The first 15 or so minutes of the second half were just the same as the last 35 minutes of the first half. By that time, Didcot were cursing and didn't need to try.

It's the same story every week, pathetic defending, not fit enough, the team changes every game...... We are within sight of Christmas and we've got to start picking up points otherwise we're going down again.

The best Rebels performance I've seen was the first 28 minutes of the Burnham match, and of course we lost that one too.

Guest chris-sliski

I have to agree with most of the comments ..its almost the same week in week out...we need to sort the denfence out ..poor richard in goal , is almost having to be our hero every week !

Now a call to our players ! and a saying for your note and please don't take this the wrong way !

If you don't train together how do you expect to play together..training needs to be really worked on and if you are really serious to stand by proberly the best non league supporters at our level after almost 5 years of hell...

please take this note seriously..

Paul! You mong!!!!!

I Know "the toothless idiot".

I can assure you all, that Paul is a nice bloke, and I have to say One of the best bosses I have ever had. I worked with him about 10 years ago. I had a long chat with him before the game, told him that the last thing I needed was for him to see how shlt we have become! He is a wind up merchant, and obviously, being a bit pissed, he did what he did. Right or wrong, he never swore and he was only taking the piss. Most fans handled it ok, some, bit, and the only anger came from Slough fans. Pathetic. Can't we take heckling?!He was having a laugh, as could be told when you lot started about his teeth! I was on the verge of interfering when Pepe led him away, didn't do it before because I was laughing at the buffoon. He would not have got punched as I would have prevented it. I expect it was basically all aimed at me as a joke. Do you really think he would have done it if he thought it wouldn't have been taken in jest? We have all made mistakes and although he can can be a c0ck at times, I know he meant no real harm. Have played football with him loads of times, he's a crap Goal keeper, which explains the teeth and the bouts of barminess!

lets be fair, he was right, we are crap, and we are going down!

Whilst the second half was heartening (I am sure Didcot were not happy to concede THREE goals) and there were a few questionable offside calls as well as penalties, the first half was poor. It is great that Slough fans rallied behind the team and that was probably worth at least one goal (maybe the penalty!). The biggest problem does seem to be defence when several spectators are able to predict when and why opponents will score.

Notwithstanding, we must rally behind the team. At times it seems the difference is one of confidence and belief (and support). It can change the outcome and we saw the potential against Andover.
