I have had the pleasure of refing a couple of matches over the last couple of weeks, 1 veterans and 1 under 10's.

 

The U10's much more pleasurable than the vets obviously.

 

The question should be, why do players, who have played the game for 30 years odd, still insist in trying to cheat, and then complain when they are caught??

they have lost all their pace, therefore are now totally reliant on their skill to get them out of trouble or into good positions...

 

this is frustrating

 

they also have learnt "every trick in the book" by the age of 35

 

this is not an excuse, but pretty much my experience...speaking as a 38 year old player, in a team of 20-24 year olds....

 

I dont actually cheat, but I will get the ref "on side" with a few chosen comments and words....I probably do one tackle per game now, and the rest of the time, nudge and banter my way to get the ball....

 

it still works !
