Absolutely. Don't add up to me. Ones a reputable manager who has England experience, played at the highest level, gave Beckham his big break. The other one is just a [****!!****].

Stimson’s a bad appointment for Gillingham?

When are you lot going to wake up? Stimson’s a fantastic manager. He got Grays Promoted to the conference and got them to the Play Offs in their first season up. Last season he had to assemble a new Stevenage side that at first looked like he had some trouble but eventually made them into a very reasonable team. They even won the Trophy. This season they looked they would go up automatically with little trouble.

You lot are so desperate for Gillingham to fail, if Jose Mourinho had gone there you all be saying the same thing.

He is a slaphead thug.

Were you there the night he taunted and made wan*ing gestures to our young fans during the Canvey game?

I was very close by and could see the deranged look in his eyes and the spittle drooling from his mouth as he "celebrated" in our faces.

I think Ed Miller had a really good picture of the incident on his old whitebucket site.

He and the Scally are well suited.

The winners from this saga appear to be Stevenage, having lost a self centered, money grabbing bully and replaced him with one of Englands most talented coaches - in fact an outsider for the full England job.

If you rate him that highly, you could always switch your allegiance again, this time from Fleet to Gills.

Another Gary classic, the only thing it missed was a spontaneous word in CAPITAL letters for no reason.

How does one act of absolute stupidity sum up how good a manager someone is? I wasn't there at the Canvey game, I was there however to see his newly promoted Grays team thrash our already accomplished Conference side 6-1. I have been to every game he has opposed us since, the only time we've come away with anything was last season's home game with Stevenage which finished 1-1.

I think what it is, is not that you think he is such a bad manager but that you hate him so much coupled with Gillingham you can only want him to fail. If he was a war "hero" would you clap him, now there’s one for you.

As for changing allegiance to Gillingham because I rate him so highly that was the sort of pathetic cheap shot I've come to expect from you Gary, is that really the best you can do? Did I stop supporting Chelsea because I thought Andy Ford was a better manager than Jose Mourniho? Do you think Daish is a better manager than Arsene Wenger? If not why not go and support Arsenal?

I'm sorry Gary that post doesn't make it into the top ten, it was more desperate and pathetic than the comic genius that I'm used to from you.

I have to say Stimson went a long way to changing my views on him at the home game against Stevenage this season - about half way through the first half someone on the bench swore quite loudly and a young lad shouted out in complaint - Stimson stood up, apologised to the young supporter(even though he wasn't the guilty party) and said no one would swear again and instructed his colleagues on that basis. To their credit they didn't swear for the rest of the game (well, not so loud that any of us could hear!).

You really have put some strange comments into your posting Harry.
Back on the "war hero" thing again?

Let's not go THERE again!

He may well turn out to be a good acquisition for the Gills . The incident that Gary refers to is part of what makes football great. To say he is a slaphead thug is your opinion Gary and you are entitled to it. I just think that football will be a lot poorer without the characters that are at every level of this sport. From the Jose Mouriniho`s to the Stimson`s , we need hate figures , we need characters and we need rivalrys.

Without these , what would we be watching.

Whatever you think of him as a person C.G. the Stevenage side that he brought to Stonebridge road this season played some very nice football.

I think Stimson going to Gillingham is a gamble for both of them, if it doesn't pay off then He will be branded a failure at football league level and probably won't get a second chance and Gills will be waving to Stevenage on the way past.

Gary,

I have watched your scuffle with Harry with ambivalence over the past few months. Both of you have said things that I agree with and both said things that made me shake my head.

But I took this comment a little more personally.

Getting people to switch their allegiance from an established League team to the Fleet is exactly what we need.

I spent much of my youth going to watch Millwall. I was a season ticket holder there for 6 years and travelled the country to watch them.

It was only when I became a family man (and needed to watch the pennies) that I stopped going.

Then, when my son recevied a free ticket to see the Fleet through his school, I realised what a great team we had on our doorstep.

We are both now season ticket holders at Stonebridge Road.

I am sure that there are many other 'Allegiance Switchers' that attend regularly.

I say "The more the merrier"

Harry has given up championship winning years at Chelsea for Conference football, most of the people that live in our area would see that as a foolish thing to do and would not consider it. I bet Harry doesn't regret it one little bit

I agree they played good football, but I shake my head at the way the entire episode has been handled.

Rumours of "illegal" approaches by Gillingham.News leaked to the press a month ago, Stimson resigns a fortnight ago, denials of appraoches by Scally, Stimpson magically signs for Gills, Scally says all the work was done in the last 48 hours.

No wonder football has a poor reputation.

Stevenage have handled the saga brilliantly, all credit to their board. They also have a manager in place to go with their infrastructure that should see them into the fotball league within a couple of years.

Interesting to read that a free ticket handed out at your boys school netted us to season ticketholders.
We should be peppering the junior schools and junior football teams with free tickets.

Very good idea. I was listening to Talk Sport this morning and people were calling in to say it is costing them nearly £200 to take their kids to watch premiership matches. At some time all kids will want to go and see a live match and in my eyes there is no better place than the lower leagues. My five yr old daughter loves going to the Fleet. All it costs is a ticket, a coke and a packet of sweets.

Plus one of those awkward questions that crop up from time to time...

"Daddy, why does our team never win an FA Cup game..?"
