Robbie Burns

I have just heard the sad news that Robbie died on 23rd October. He was captain of Hertford Town from the late 50s to the late 60s and made over 500 appearances for the club.

 

The funeral is next Thursday (8th Nov) in Welwyn Garden City at the Our Lady Queen of Apostle church in Woodhall lane, then on to a burial. More details when available.

I never had the privilege of meeting Robbie, but he was truly a club legend. Sad to hear the news.

Yes sad news, will the club be sending flowers or something like that for his funeral? if not I'm sure the supporters wouldn't mind a collection to refund the balance of the flowers etc. for a long serving player.

The funeral is at 11am, followed by burial at Hatfield Hyde cemetery. I would like to send flowers from the club - any volunteers to do the collection?

If it's ok with you & the club my Daughter's would be delighted to go around the ground with a collection tin/bucket as long as you can provide confirmation what the collection is in aid of, perhaps something on the bucket would do.

I'm sure the fans will give generously.
