Cookie
Was talking about his play at Folkestone. He seemed NOT to be tackling as he has done previously.Looked like someone had told him to calm down JUST a little to avoid a red card. Shame,as he had a good game overall that night without the need for his late mistimed kamikaze tackling. Then he goes & gets involved in something that had nothing whatsoever to do with him & gets the red card anyway. Stupid boy.

Hornet
Fully agree with styx45. Would be quite a good footballer if he had a brain cell. Looks like another of our players set for the England Learning Disabilities squad.
BlueGate Alan
Please don't agree with Steve Hornet, he isn't used to that!
Pagey
I disagree Hornet. Look how much his game has improved over one season, I think he will improve Further You know I am right as I support a better team than you :ahem:

Hornet
Actually, I think you'll find I support a better team than you Pagey, ahem! Agree that he's much, much improved player but he's still a dunce who has half a year off banned or injured ( probably through lack of fitness through not playing 'cos he's always bleeding suspended ). To the post above I think the answer could be; he's a bloke who used to be beside the "seaside". C Side-he's our striker isn't he? I'm confusing meself now???? MargateFan
Hornet he is not a dunce, he is actually very intelligent. You should not be so personal, especially as you don't know the bloke personally. And I am apalled by the other comment, which is so nasty that I would not repeat it. What the hell is wrong with you? Cookie he was probably more quiet than usual because it is only four weeks since he broke his rib, and if mine were anything to go by they were still pretty painful at 8 weeks. He gets banged about a lot, but always seems to come back and have a go, I think he deserves some credit for that, but of course none for the altercation. Steve he is not a liability as he is probably one of our best players. True he has a short fuse, and it is frustrating to see it burn, but take the temperament out of the player and you would not get the player that does such good things for the team generally. It is a trade off, and my opinion is that it is worth it. I am pretty exasperated with him for Monday, however. We need him and now we will be without him for three weeks. He did not have to wade in. Last season we were also let down by the misdemeanours of a few of our senior players, Cookie is right. Trotty should sort that.
Porka
Good post June. Dean has improved a hell of a lot in the past year and is now a key player. All the more frustrating that we will miss him for three games because of his stupidity on Monday. But his passion for the game is part of what makes him an important player for us. Shame he couldn't control himself on Monday at the end.
Cookie
June,I said it LOOKED like he had been told to calm it. I didnt say that WAS the reason. Indeed what you say could be correct. Now,did he go hard into the tackle on Saturday? I wasn't there so I dont know.If he DID then your theory wont wash but otherwise I agree, this could have be the reason for him looking calmer in the tackle at Folkestone. It seems a valid & sensible reason. I have praised him for his workrate & decent form if you read my post & have done so on many occasions this season. He has improved his form,of that theres no doubt whatsoever. However it IS his stupidy, yes stupidity(on the field,at times like the other night)that has been brought to the fore here. If he hadn't wanted to act the "big man" he wouldn't have got sent off again & wouldn't have drawn attention to himself for the wrong reasons. The only good thing (if there is one) that came out of Dean getting sent of was that the attention was drawn to Dean's challenge rather than the initial one by Jay.I don't think Jay actually got a card of any sort in the end(if I am correct).Damn lucky for Jay if that was the way it panned out. Pagey
I wouldn't use the word stupid, I would use the word passionate His passion is shown in a different way to say Rob H's passion but it does need to be more controlled.
Cookie
It was "STUPID" to get involved. Plain & simple. Its not about being passionate when you want to show of your boxing skills. Passion in the tackle, yes! Thats different.
MargateFan
I thought the tackle was very fair. He went in on the slide, but got the ball not the man. Didn't see Jay's to be fair to him. Did not see Deano raise a hand. Cannot understand that although hands were raised by the Invicta lads there was no penalty against any of them. Though I agree wading in was probably not very clever, I don't think he would have done it had there been no provocation. And again, it is his commitment to the team and his fire that makes him such a good player, plus the fact that he has stayed loyal to us despite being two seasons' worth of boo boy. Well, anyway, y'all know I have always rated him, even in the teeth of some tough opposition. In any case, both tackles were not potentially career-ending, although I thought that the one on Scotty might have been, and we are lucky we still have our no 1 keeper.
