How underrated was Danny Bailey?

I seem to remember him getting stick when things weren't going well, but he was always there grafting away in the middle, & he had a blinder at Scouseport that day. Wasn't that his only goal for us?

Aahh, that goal from Matty, I remember him just standing there lapping up the (deserved) adulation. I came away from Aggborough that day thinking that we were really going to challenge for the championship next year. How bitterly that dream was crushed. Am I alone in the wishful thinking that if that ludicrously offside goal in the Trophy semi hadn't been given, & we'd gone to Wembley, it would have all turned out differently?

Water under the bridge I guess, and we have to learn to live with the future we have.

Please cheer on the Rebels on my behalf at Hemel today, I hope to make Harlow early next month. (How I hate working weekends)

Totally agree Danny Bailey was very underrated. In my opinion one of the best central midfielders I've seen at the club since I started watching in 1992. (Not as long as some I know).

 

Also I notice that by posting this I get post number 5000 on this forum. Do I win a prize?

to be honest, even if we had won the fa cup that year, as well as the trophy and the conference, mayfair would still have screwed us over for profit....

Paul Wilkerson (shaky start, but got a hell of a lot better)

Garry Smart (Mr Dependable, non-league Denis Irwin)

Cliff Hercules (always gave 110%)

Terry Angus (sheer class)

Paul Hardyman (grafter, see also: Smart, Garry)

Gary Brazil (wore his heart on his sleeve, creative genius)

Danny Bailey (everybody say Keane-o)

Matty Stowell (cultured midfielder)

Danny Bolt (like Wilko, was a thorn in most sides down the left)

Lloyd Owusu (come back Lloyd, please! second best player this towns produced)

Garry Abbott (got some stick (Bath City) but was a great predator, scored a blinder against dover, and almost beat Cardiff)
