Folkstone 0 - 2 Billericay Town

Really good performance today.. Blewitt suspended so kept same XI as last week, Hodgey struggled a bit with a knee injury and Macca was hobbling for much of the game after a crunching tackle early doors. Cagey opening from both sides, although I felt we had the advantage territorially. Opening goal just a couple of minutes before half time - their No 6 blocked Boot's cross with his hand, clearly a pen but the ref gave a corner. No worries, the ball fell to Abbott who let fly from 20 yds only for their keeper to pull off a fine block. The ball fell to Flack who dribbled past his man and fired home from a tight angle. They didn't offer much, best effort a direct free kick that was well saved by billy. Joke of the day was the no 6 getting motm, should have given away at least 2 penalties and got beaten for the 2nd goal.

On to Swansea! The game is to be played on the weekend of the 10th Nov I believe, TV pending.

Well done to the lads today. We deserved to win, no doubt whatsoever and the players have been rewarded with a fantastic draw against Swansea.

There must be half a chance it'll be on telly but it seems there are only two TV games one on Friday the other on Sunday.

Mind you

Hope so, cos that would be worth 75k.

Would say more but I'm off to a party

Fantastic result. Didn't get to the game but the BBC cup draw was exciting especially as Paul Parker who knows New Lodge and Billericay well drew us out.

Will the game be played at New Lodge? Hope so because Gavin Peacock on BBC seemed to think it the tie of the round especially as Swansea won today and are standing 2nd in league 1 - maybe the cameras will be tempted

Think the game HAS to be at New Lodge (not allowed to switch to the "away" team's venue), though I believe a neutral venue is permissable if the local constabulary think there may be problems.

Can't see the crowd being over-large though - the Clarets are at home to the mighty Ashford (Middx) on the same day, though after today's performance your crowd may well be swelled by a fair number of CCFC fans.

BC, it's unlike you to comment in such a manner. If there are Chelmsford supporters that wish to come and there are tckets available, they'll be welcome

BUT

They have to wear a Billericay shirt and stand under a banner that reads in big letters...

"I was once a glory hunting Chelmsford supporter, I am now a glory hunting Billericay supporter".

And that'll be half your average gate then...

Hmmmmmm...it does appear that the draw meant more than the game yesterday...especially that we won...and not really wishing to bring people into focus but there has been little said about the game and our boys performance and more said about the "facial" expressions of those that were involved in the draw and pulling those numbered balls out (especially in my car), or about if the game will be on TV or will the game be at New Lodge (I damn well hope so). All amirable questions that require answers and will be in time.

Now before anyone gets on my case for being a "sticky old stick in the mud", I'm as "over the moon" as anyone at the draw but I have read little praise about the team performance (about three or four have given a hearty well done to the lads). From Billy between the sticks to Ryan Maxwell and Rikki Burbridge, every man on that pitch played their part in what is in my opinion one of the best performances this season. We witness a mixture of clearing our lines by route one (where we needed to) to playing our passing game. We saw a top form striker not only show how deadly he is in responding to "picking up the bits" but how supremely confiedent he is when going solo and shooting from what to me appeared an impossible angle (possibly a contender for goal of the season).

Yes, lets all rejoice about the draw, a fantastic opportunity for the club but it's those players (and the management guys in the dug out) that have got us here and they deserve a little (admitidly retrospective) applause and praise from us all. We ask them to play for their shirt and with pride. Yesterday they did!!!

To evryone through to Matt Jones down to those players on the bench...

applause applause applause applause applause

And one mention to our support...you were all as magnificent as the team. Yesterday is an example of what we can achieve as a club when we get behind the players.

Now...about the Swansea game... wink
