I couldnt blame Lance for the og - diverted well away from him by Hawkins.

 

Perhaps he might have come to claim the free kick that they got their second from, but I think the ball was into one of those areas where its always difficult to defend.

 

The first one was well struck & the defence didnt help by allowing Exeter to get to the rebound 1st.

In the absence of David James, Paul Robinson, Scott Carson or Robert Green, then I think Lance is, without doubt, our number one.

 

What is being suggested here ?

 

We get a player in the " non league" England squad....and all of of a sudden he's not good enough for us ??

I hate it when people call me Slart, if my mum, gawd rest 'er, had wanted to call me Slart she would have called me Slart not Slarti.

Oi! as captain & Player of the Year 78-79 I think I better get in on the act with a few home truths. If we ever were shakey at the back it was because we were conscious of being last line of defence as we could no-way rely on the keeper (who blamed playing 5-3-2 to cover his short-comings) As for the Lily-livered Chalky well he was the only player I have ever seen forming a wall laying down and Hirsty just wanted to lean on the bar all the time. I had to leave in the end because I was ashamed how dirty some of our players had become.

I thought we invented the 8-1-1 formation.
It seemed like that somedays when we celebrated getting the ball into the opposition's half!!

Oh to have been able to lean on the bar ! Don't forget that we are talking about the Dark Ages before all day opening so unless we were playing at Bowaters or AEI then you couldn't get a beer as the blo*dy bar closed every time you were thirsty !!
