Pre-Match at Meadowbank !

For those of you who visit Meadowbank and enjoy a meal and/or a drink beforehand at the Malthouse pub, it was reported on the front page of the Dorking Advertiser that Thornfield, (on behalf of J.S. Sainsbury), who own the site and after having being refused planning permission for a superstore, now wish to demolish the pub and build over 30 flats in its place !

Bleedin' typical !

Is that not good news for Dorking FC?

If the pub is no longer there, then shorley that brings a business opportunity for Dorking FC.

Here's a thought - Spend some money turning the clubhouse in to a nice new venue for people to enjoyfood and drink and voila you have a sustainable football club 7 days a week.

I have got a spare business plan for the club lying about at home if it is of any help!

Strange thing is, when the Malthouse applied for a late licence, certain residents appealed it.

Now the owners want to demolish the pub and build 30 odd flats, certain residents will appeal against it.

One can only wonder if it's the same residents.

Incidently, the planning application is for four-storey high flats with underground parking for 30+ cars !

And how long before the new residents submit a complaint about disturbance from the floodlights....

I went to the Dripping Pan a couple of weeks back for Lewes v Sutton in the FA Cup (what an unusual ground!) and the flats opposite have an excellent unobstructed view of the pitch - one of the residents was out on his balcony on his garden chair enjoying the game for free! He even gets a stunning view over the South Downs to enjoy during the boring bits!!

just read the Ad, you missed a bit Bjr!

The picture of a sign on the malthouse bar "we are looking to get a football and rugby team together"

Are the chicks moving to the big field, and cementing the relationship with the Badgers?

Or is this another attempt to undermine the progress at meadowbank by making illegal approaches to the current squad?

I think we should be told....

A couple of transfer rumours in the pot, but they're 'secret-squirrel' at the moment, unfortunately.

The councillor in question is definitely NOT an animal and I'd rather not comment on the other two options !
