The Margate Drum

Our main protester lives approx 200yds away directly across a field from one end of the ground, the club is monitored on a regular basis with regard to the PA system. We have had to learn to live with it. She was there before we were in this case. The club has had to fight the planning department for everything since it came back into existence as a playing force, so it takes nothing for granted.

Sheep? yes we have one side of the ground named "The Sheepside", beware the supporters on that side! particularly the one who sits part way up the floodlight pylon every match.

The 'North Bank' have a labrador called Nimrod who has his own song!

Wellsie, I don't seriously believe that you would stop supporting your team just because you can't have the drum, forget about it, you don't need it, and come and sing.

We are a friendly club, win or lose, and you will all be made welcome. Lets make it a day to remember.

It's an elderly lady and her husband died this year. Whilst I don't agree with her sentiments, she isn't alone in them unfortunately and whilst we won the planning case on appeal they are planning to appeal higher - so bear with us while we try to do everything by the book, it doesn't spoil our enjoyment believe me.

This might help you to understand and get a feel for what the club is about:-

Hi Pauline.Whilst some may be somewhat disappointed not to be able to have the drum at the game,in all seriousness I'm sure most who have posted on here about this wouldn't be seeing this as a too big a deal.In the words of an ex manager of ours "we just have to get on with it"!

I'm sure those that can make the game will be vocal enough anyway. The guys that go regularly to away games generally are.

Your posh. We just call it Berties.

You have obviously not met our AB before. Do not forget to bow to him when you greet him but, do not stand near his right hand when drinking Tea as his little finger can poke your eye outwink
