who thinks we can get something from the game, Burnham are unbeaten in 10 league games their runs got to end soon, byron bubb could be a handfull if our defence is not on its guard, could be a hard game especially as they seem to be a very physical side which dont mind hard tackling.

Good luck rebels

You're right - we are a village team and don't have the population to support the large crowds you get, so inevitably it is a bit quiet, especially with some of our neighbours! Like many clubs, we have to fight for our financial position like you, so there are the usual souls who do their all for the club.

We welcome you on Tuesday night and hope for a good game. Despite your current position, we will not be taking anything for granted; there are no easy games in this league. But we do have a team with quite a few Burnham-raised players and they are playing hard for their team and letting the football do the talking.

All the best for your season - no non-league supporter wants to see a team with your antecedents in the doldrums, especially as none of it is the fan's making. Good luck with the planning application!

BUSY MUDGE BAGS TWO

29/10/2007

British Gas Business Southern League Division One South & West club Burnham have signed full back Chris Owens on a dual registration from Ryman League Premier Division side Wealdstone.

Owens, who is capable of playing in midfield or at the back, joined the Stones in the close season from AFC Hayes.

Burnham have also snapped up forward Blaise O’Brien from league rivals AFC Hayes, and he made his debut as a substitute against Bridgewater Town on Saturday.

O’Brien has been a prolific goalscorer for the likes of Hillingdon Borough, who he joined from Yeading’s second string originally, He had earned a handful of senior appearances for the Ding as well as county representative honours.

But he switched to Molesey in the summer of 2002 in search of more regular senior football and then on to Ashford Town (Middx) the following October.

He joined Hillingdon in the summer of 2004, switching to Hendon in November 2005 and onto AFC Hayes last summer.

Meanwhile, in addition to striving for success and lifting the profile of the club on the football pitch, manager David Mudge is now looking to do the same off of the pitch.

When he has spare time from his own work and managing the football club he is now on the look-out for extra funding for the club.

In only a couple of weeks of selling match perimeter banners, programme advertising etc., his work is beginning to pay off as over a dozen new banners have gone up around the pitch.

Somehow I can`t imagine Sir Alex doing something like that!

Looking at the programme from Saturday, Burnham's average attendance is 102, with their highest being 122 v Uxbridge. Going on the kind of support we get away from home and how local the game is i think that we could easily beat 122, thinking nearer to the 150-200 mark.
