Ricay 2 Ilford 1

Recommended Posts

Hmmm Sunday morning and the first post.....

The positives are that we are in the next round, have banked another £1500 along the way and that Flackie's fire is currently raging on. Long may it continue!!

It was a miserable game in front of a miserable attendance. The alarm bells are ringing deafeningly loudly but we still have time to fix it. Please?

I think ,that was commonly known as an ugly win....Ilford created little or no shots on billys goal..so we tended to play at their level...but there were some outstanding diplays of skill by our players ...their keeper ..Marrable was outstanding...as usual Dorms was everywhere and Flackie ..well thank god he has still got his goalscoring boots...every time ,he attacks opponents goal...you are just sure he is going to score....so now onto the next round..!!!!!!!!

I would go some way to agree with the "ugly win" sentimaent. Looking at the results and some of the reports coming out of other games, we were certainly not the only club to "dumb down" yesterday. I'm sure if we we're playing better opposition we may have upped our game...no excuse though for the under par performance but, we're in the hat for Monday.

As for the crowd figures...well...if you look at some of the figures yesterday, ours were not that bad. Boreham Wood's 255 is quite poor considering their opposition and their so called support.

I've mentioned this before but all teams have more than a couple "ugly" wins in them during a season and I'm quite surprised at the amount of doom ad gloom that comes with them. It was the same this time last season...and then we found ourselves in a strong league position at the tail end of the season and the same people were welcoming them (with a certain amount of relief).

Anyway...moan over...we all support the club so lets look forward to a good Trophy draw and then an entertaining game on Saturday...

Absolute dire game of football. But if we're going to stick with what we've got, then don't get too excited.

353 I thought wasn't too bad, considering the opposition, no away support, recent performances and it's half-term. Moment of the match has to be the Ilford mascot celebrating on his own for their goal. Quality!

"Boreham Wood's 255 is quite poor considering their opposition and their so called support".

There you go again Gazza - mis-stating CCFC attendance figures. The attendance at Boreham Wood was 225, not 255 (we only took 120, and not the usual 150). You must know by now, how important the attendance figures are to us Clarets!

Quite understandable UU. We always have around 100 who prefer to remain anonymous whilst entering the stadium.

If you were to inspect the photographs on the Soapbox (err...that's the soppybox, according to you lot), you will note that there are around 70 CCFC supporters standing behind the goal. Probably not many amongst the dozen or so sitting in the "grand" stand, but I'm sure there would be a considerable number of others elsewhere in the stadium.

"Gormless bunch of numpties"? - now that's not very polite is it.

Yawn...BC, if you wish to count the number of your supporters that appear in a picture, be my guest...actually you have, haven't you?

...Meanwhile back to our game..I had the feeling that we looked like a team who were (possibly) eyeing this coming week. It most certainly was not the prettiest game - but i guess at the end of the day the win is the most important aspect. I (personally) felt we could have utilised the width more as Ilford (no disrepect) were not particilarly mobile (imo). However, i would agree that if we had played opposition of a higher standard we could have raised it higher.

My final word word be simply this though - "If" we continue like that next week we are in for a tough time. Not being harsh lads just a little wake up call wink

It was a disapointing performance and I'm sure the team know that as well BUT we won and we came out of it with no injury problems and with a full squad looking to up their game next Saturday.

By the way, I would like to thank Lee Hodges for doing the mascot presentation after the game. Lee, you're a star and topped of a great day for him (Lee is his favorite player).

Blimey UU, you have alot of pals, you have only been in this division 5 minutes or are all your pals people you sold double glazing to?

I'm more concerned about the "pal on the wood gate"'s ability to count FGU. If only 30 Clarets passed through, how did the other 100 odd gain admission. If there's a gap in the perimeter fencing, it would be in "Woods" interest to patch it up before they incur any further loss of income.
