Would it not have been a good idea to say to the players' Hey we intend to play W&F on Sat 20th, i know its short notice but are any of you not available' before we arrange to play this fixture.

If that had happened then we didn't have to play this fixture thus maybe field a stronger team that wouldn't have lost at a later date with more of a time period!!

I don't see why it would even be necessary to do that, Stone Cold. I imagined that when you sign for a senior football club you agree to be available every Saturday, Tuesday/Wednesday evenings and whatever the training regime is - exceptional circumstances obviously excepted. It is not for the club to ask if the players can make it! Equally obviously if a club is knocked out of cup competitions it will seek to re-arrange fixtures.

Of course this may all be tosh and piffle, and the players are actually injured. Also as others have stated, we have a large squad, a reserve team and a very good youth team, yet I understand that we could not muster a full bench! Perhaps it would help if there was some clarification?

What would have happened if we had stayed in the cup?

If we couldn´t get a team out then why play in the first place?

SATURDAY 20 OCTOBER 2007 - MOLTEN SPARTAN SOUTH MIDLANDS LEAGUE BIGGLESWADE TOWN 2 HERTFORD TOWN 1
by Pete Boyer

Hertford Town's goalkeeping crisis worsened during the week with the news that James Sturgeon had joined Mark Virgo and Nick Barnaby on the injury list. The Blues were fortunate to be able to call on the services of former assistant manager Tony Tilbrook, who donned the number one shirt for this game. Manager Greenwood also made some other changes to the team: The full back partnership of Pablo Ardiles on the left and Nicky Marsh on the right, was resumed, alongside a centre back pairing of Glenn Draper and Robbie Carroll. Skipper Kevin Kilroy moved up into midfield at the expense of new boy Matt McArdle, who dropped to the bench.
