Donny fans think we're "dross"...!

Got back just after 9pm - the Donny fans I spoke to on the way home certainly didn't think that.

They all thought Wilkerson was man of the match - and he was!

Without him it would have been double figures.

Not that Gravesend were especially bad - it's just Doncaster were too good for us.

The full-time status certainly told.

Missed game today listened to Matt Davidson on RK, it sounded as if Doncaster were all over us, Paul Wilkerson played out of his skin, defence caught out several times, full time players and pots of money will certainly tell, keep our spirits up, we can still stay in this league, Leigh, Nuneaton, Kettering and Farnborough all lost, Woking drew, unfortunatly Burton and Stevenage won, it is up to us we still have several home games left, the next two games are at home we must get six points.

I dont think it was so much that they was better than us it was just that they finished better. We had a great chance to take the lead early on.

I would like to know DOES THEIR TOP STRIKER BARNES EVER STAY ON HIS FEET!!

He has to be the biggest DIVER in the conference!!!

Come on admit it they were a good team, with good passing and control, if Wilks hadnt been in goal it would have been 10-1 at least.I thought we were pretty bad, losing control of the ball after a couple of passes and their attack just ripped through us.I have posted a response on the Dons web site of my views of their team and their supports yesterday, afetr all the bad press they had earlier in the season,I had only a good experience yesterday from their supporters.

This was only my 2nd Conference game so I may have a false view at the moment. Being honest, I think the standard is generally good, especially in the forward play.

I fully expected Doncaster to be head and shoulders above the Fleet but certainly in the first half they weren't. I could seen no evidence of a well marshelled mid-field, which is the usual sign of a competent team. Rovers got it together more in the second half and had it not been for our goalie it could have been a silly scoreline (not that 4-1 isn't).

I may have posted this before but to repeat, the major differences I can see between the League Divisons is defending. Certainly Barnes & co. won't get as much feedom at a higher level. OK, Doncaster also had to some smart players up front but their defending was also very poor at times.

It may sound wreckless (especially as the scoreline shows a drubbing) but I would have liked Fleet to have had a real go at them 'attacking-wise' from the start. An early goal to the away team often disturbes the home teams plans. I firmly believe if Fleet had scored one of the three or more chances we had, before they scored, the game would have been very different.

At the end, while Donacster ran-out worthy winners, I was still left thinking the early chances that fell to Fleet should have been taken.

Indeed Daz, it was a fine effort from Benno and the scoreline could have been very different had it gone in. In the end though, we were outclassed and only Wilkerson's fantastic saves (about 6 or 7 top drawer ones grin.gif) kept the score down. His place in the NLP team of the week in today's issue is fully deserved. It was a shame that Benno had to play right back for most of the game, but against such quality opposition it probably made little difference. The best performance I have seen against us this season. frown.gif

Nice to see Chris Giles come over to the fans at the end - his quality play and commitment will be sorely missed. frown.gif

God knows how Burton beat Chester at home - we'll just have to make sure we beat Northwich next week. grin.gif

P.S. On a high note, Che's goal, while pretty irrelevant, was a superb strike. grin.gif
