Enfield 1-1 Billericay

Recommended Posts

Not much to report really - reasonably good start to the game with fewings giving us the lead midway through the first half. Henty went off injured with what looked to be a recurrance of his recent injury. Enfield grabbed the equaliser seconds before the ref blew for ht. 2nd half v. poor. Bad news for town in that Adedeji and Fewings both limped off with Adedeji's injury looking particularly worrying. Church came on and showed some good touches and pace.

Team

JJ, Williams, Kerrigan, Adedeji (Church), Savidge, R.Graham, Henty (Penn), Morris, Fewings (Pitts), Douglas, M.Graham

fair first half - good to see fewings get the goal his recent efforts have deserved even if it looked offside. mind you so did their equaliser. the second half was abysmal and that s being kind. draw a fair result. more injuries henty n adedeji to add to ansell wallace and gilley and you d have to worry if the 11 that finished here had to start against the shots.

the officials were absolutely shocking even by this seasons standards and i even recall the lino attempting to tackle mark graham at one point.

looks like it ll be a question of take your boots and you might get a game on tuesday but lets hope we can get a result at hitchin

It all looked quite promising shortly after we had scored, not a good time to concede a goal though. We started the second half like we seem to start every second half badly.

Unlike Basingstoke though we did not lift our game again and I think the injuries caused a big disruption as we played about three different formations throughout the second half.

A quick mention for Dean Morris though who has impressed in the last three games.

The number of games we're playing is starting to catch up with us - we looked tired. Enfield didn't have a midweek game and looked much fresher. Could be that Morris hadn't been playing much football this season before arriving here and consequently isn't as jaded as some of the rest of the players? The likes of Kerrigan, JJ, Williams, Penn and the ggs haven't missed many games and probably need a rest.

It seems unfair to us that the league are moving our matches bunching them together. They moved our match against Basingstoke from 18th March and they've now replaced it with Boreham Wood, which we were supposed to play on the 1st April. Why couldn't they leave it?

It also seems stupid we are playing Hendon away on a Thursday and then have to play again on Saturday. No wonder players are getting tired.

Problem is when they decided to increase the number of teams in the league they gave themselves no leeway for getting the games played. A couple of weeks of bad weather in January (Which is hardly unusual) and it's fixture pile-up. Basically if you also include the decision to increase the number of subs permitted, the league are just making it even easier for the richer clubs (ie those with the big squads) to win the league.

Quite relieved to get a point considering we finished the game with only 2 recognised defenders on the pitch! And they we're both leftbacks!!! JJ looked injured after his collision and Russell seemed to be struggling with a knock. MOM for me was Fewings before he went off (injured?) and Danny Kerrigan who bailed out Nick Savidge more than a few times! Other than that, [****!!****] officials, [****!!****] crowd and the dodgiest burgers since Rainham Town served up the 'economy hoof burger'. Still, roll on Tuesday eh!!
