Think this has been in the pipeline for a year or so. The CCL Constitution allows 66 clubs I believe. They could then run the new league and it stops them having to kick out teams who do not meet the ground grading requirements. It may also be run by Surrey FA. We shall see.

The new League will probably start with 14 Clubs or at the most 16 Clubs and will be formed by teams who will be demoted from the Combined Counties League who are unable to meet the requirements of that Leagues Division One – Step 6, which from the start of the 2008/9 season will require floodlights and a small stand amongst other things, plus a number of Clubs from this competition and the Western Intermediate who can meet the requirements. It is anticipated that allowance will be made for Clubs whose ground may not be available early and late season due to sharing with cricket."
