Tonights Result

Recommended Posts

Book your flights, the result is correct. A good performance and great atmosphere tonight. First goal was an odd one, keeper fell over, ball hit player on the line then Dormer tucked it in. Thought the ref had given the free kick when he pointed towards the half way line so didnt celebrate but goal was given. Second goal was a nice finish from BWG into the corner after going clear through. Mcmahon back in goal made a few good saves, but we were more of a threat than Heybridge and deserved the win i thought. Good to keep a clean sheet.

On to Folkestone which will be a very tough game, but none the less a great chance to progress to the first round. Have to work that day which is pretty annoying so ill be hoping for a replay.

Mcmahon, McSweeney, Kerrigan, Heffer, Blewitt, Dormer, Hodges (Semanshia), Hunter, Abbott (Maxwell), Burbridge (Boot), Woods-Garness. Think ive got that right.

Yep. 2-0 it was, and a pretty convincing performance. Particularly in 2nd half where we really seemed to control the game; much more like a 'ricay performance from last season. Tony Boot came on for Burbs straight after out first goal in the first half. Him and BWG played well together. Flackie didn't get a run-out. Obviously saving him for Ilford! Billy Mac, back betwen the sticks, pulled off a couple of excelent saves, and kept the back four well organised. Had a third disallowed for offside; couldn't tell from where I stood.

Folkestone here we come!

I think the third was onside, looked like a pull back from Semanshia. Boot looked really good when he came on, i think he should be starting ahead of Burbridge.

Gate was 530, looked more than that to me. Theres already a thread on the chelmsford forum of 5 posts all talking about the attendance. Personally i dont give a toss, we won im happy. smile

Like were bothered about them....

we are going to the next round and they are not.

Spoke to a few of the Heybridge crowd after the game and they were saying that chelmsford are well above their station, & you know i tend not to disagree.

Anyway it's not about them it's about us. well done to all concerned and yet again the vocal support of our fans is second to none.

WE ARE ON OUR WAY TO FOLKSTONE ....

Personally I like this one from the soppy box as per usual our att was far higher in terms of % of population

Population of Chelmsford 110,000+

Population of Billericay 40,000+

Population of Heybridge 8.000-

These facts alone suggest that we ought to get double their gate - plus the fact that we are top of the league and are much better to watch!

But anyway who cares we are in the 4QE an the numpties arent haha

A step in the right direction for me, we battled well as a team against a big, physical Heybridge team. We defended our wide areas much better than in the previous 2 games with Swifts, with the wingers tracking back well and apart from a 10 minute spell either side of half time all they had to offer was high balls into the box.

Still not sure about the 1st goal - apparently the ref gave it for the original header (Blewitt's) although I was certain it was stopped from going in by the handball and the ref had blown for that, and we were to be awarded a pen and them a red card. I thought he blew before Dorms put in the rebound... 2nd goal was vital, for me it killed the game off.

Flack has been in bed since Sunday with the flu. I believe he would only have come on if we were losing... Boot did well I thought, be interesting to see who starts on Saturday.

I was quite pleased with the att, crowds for replays are historically somewhat lower as clubs are obviously not able to publicise the game well in advance.

Anyone who wants to know how the teram played last season can take a look at our last three games. Altho, there is still a little way to go to get the consistncy in performance over the full 90 minutes, when we start to perform, the opposition don't get a look in (a bit hyper bowl but I don't care - we played well for most of the 90 last night).

All the players did their bit but for me MOTM was Billy MacMoahn. He controlled the back four, kept a clean sheet and pulled off a couple of great, if not brilliant, saves.

Well done lads....

As for Chelmsford's speculating, pontificating and griping...well, who cares (I'll still pop over for a read). It's to be expected when you consider that they are out of the cup. The "Great Jeff King" performance in the F A Cup didn't happen this season and they're just showing their usual colours....

....green with envy that we have progressed and they haven't. Let 'em bitch, let 'em bite, let 'em live in their world of The Numpty...

The ball went forwards but Boot was behind the ball and player. Doesn't really matter (apart from for Boot) as we won. Anyway Dormer was offside Friday, it all evens it self out in the end.

Thats better lads ! - I think we are just starting to show we are now coming out of our little blip. I was really pleased for them (and us of course). grin

Well done to the lads n lasses behind the goal - And have we found the new booty song! wink Think Delila needs a bit of tinkering in the studio though grin

Finally, Matty Jones deserved this as much as anyone.

Thanks for your kind words Rob. Just for your info...when you turn up at Folkestone, we play in blue (or maybe white!)

A great result last night. We continue to look very dangerous going forward and are beginning to defend alot better as a team. A very encouraging performance.

Some stats - We're in the 4th Qualifying Round for the 7th time in our history and the first time since we beat Flackwell Heath in 2004. Our previous success in the 4th Qualifying Round was when we beat Camberley Town after a replay in 1997.

I'm already looking forward to Folkestone and dreaming of being in the hat for the 1st Round draw.

COME ON YOU BLUES!
