Nuneaton Borough, already in the relegation zone, could face a points deduction for playing Gez Murphy when he was ineligable.

The player had a one match ban from 1st March, after being sent off (for two cautions) in Kettering Town's home defeat against Doncaster on 15th February.

 

He was released, by mutual consent, by Kettering Town on 26th February. He subsequently signed for Nuneaton Borough on the 4th March (dates are as reported by the respective official club web sites).

 

Thus, he hadn't yet served his ban when he joined Nuneaton, but they played him in Tuesday's 3-2 win over Southport.

 

The club could face deduction of the three points they won during that match.

Quite agree deduct the three points, surely somebody must have the sense to check these things out and the player should also serve an extra ban for being dishonest.

Unfortunately, today's Non-League Paper contains a claim by Nuneaton that Murphy has already served his suspension, and so points will not be deducted.

But of course , Nuneaton officials would claim that !!
So I would await an official FA verdict. ( Could be a long wait tho')

but hopefully whether they keep their 3 points or not, it will be irrelevant to us as we will be well clear before the end of the season, if we perform like we can.

In regards to the NLP - Is it just me that is getting p*ssed off at their love of AFC Wimbledon. I know that what the fans have done there has been remarkable, but there are also plenty of other remarkable non league clubs out there, that have been around longer and get no publicity at all.

Quite agree Wobbly, a remarkable story would be the rise of Accrington Stanley who with any luck we will be playing next season after they have won the Unibond league.
