Team v Leyton on Tuesday

SCS

Smith--Young--Trott--Skinner

Peters--KCA--Saunders--Jackson

Pinnock--Haworth

Subs: Bowles, Mckimm, Morris, Side and Watson.

If we start with that line-up i think we could beat Leyton comfortably and with Skinner back in the side it will be like have 3 players back. Skinner, Jacko as he has been lost without Skinner and Smith although not a full back as better at right back then left back.

Smith is poor wherever he plays i.m.o. For one so young he surprisingly lacks pace a-plenty. A vastly overated player.

Young speedsters have already shown him to be a weak link & if he HAS to play then give him the central role as opposed to the full back position. He might JUST get away with it there.

He continues to back peddle to an oncoming forward & maybe thats one reason why we are letting in goals from distance all too often these days.

Who would I play at full back?..I don't know but if he plays there again he will continue to be found out, either on the left or on the right.Surely somewhere in our ranks there is a better option!

Hopefully Harte IS still with us in which case right back slot is covered anyway.

Trotty has his good games but since his latest(tongue in cheek or not)statement it seems he has been very poor. However given the choice between Trotty & Smith,Trottys experience will always count for more.At least he's good with his head.

Without having too much choice about it,Young & Trotty in central defence unless we can find that new recruit to play alongside of Young,in which case Smith & Trotty should both make way altogether.

lol, i was waiting for someone to say this. I want Trott to be successful at the club, but my main point has been that for the last few games it has not been very good, but nothing has changed when most the time you will see changes. I think this has been Trott's worst spell as manager so far, he has certainly had better days at the club.

I am not calling for the managers head quite yet, i am just losing patience witht he teams performance on the pitch and in the dugouts. Yesterday i was extremely annoyed and maybe a lot of my posts may have been mis-interpretated.

I have no problems with any player if they put in the work & are generally consistent. Last season I felt Dean was inconsistent far too often. This year he has improved & he gets my praise for that. Maybe next season Smithy will do the same but all season he has not impressed me thus far.

There is ONE major difference between this pair & thats that Dean at least has some pace.

Dean would fulfill that full backs position better than Smith I feel, when fit.In his absence Morris, who also possesses some speed will do for me at full back for the moment given no other options.

I think Smith has been doing quite well personally at centre-back, but he has been struggling lately at left back. However i agree that he isn't good enough to be in the starting line up week-in week-out, but i don't think any of our defenders are atm. Young as Porka said is still inexperienced, as is Smith and Trotts legs aren't as quick as what they used to be, so he gets skinned easily. He still has a good head on him though

If Robin is able to play Louis at Centre Back, then Louis will not let us down. His partnership with Dan Young was looking very good until Robin had to change it. I still think Louis is a talented defender but he will admit he doesn't have a left foot. But still he is wiling to put the effort in playing out of position - as all the guys are. With Skins back then we may see Louis switch to the right, and he can play there. But I do look forward to seeing him and Dabn Young re-united at the heart of the defence. That was looking a pretty good pairing in my mind.

Looks like this is our best option with Watson as sub in place of injured Trott. I'd quite like to see us go 3-4-3 as it's worked before our attack are capable of scoring goals and our defence seems to concede whatever so let's just get more goals than them. Positive mental attitude.
