Hullbridge Sports F.C. are a football club based in Hullbridge, near Rayleigh, England. The club is in the Essex Senior League, and play in blue and white stripes.

[edit] History
Formed in 1945, the club first played in the Chelmsford Mid-Essex League, before joining the Southend District league, where they remained until 1982. In that year, the league merged with the Southend Borough Combination to form the Alliance League, which the club assumed membership of.

In 1984, they joined the Essex Olympian League Division Two, and were promoted to Division One in their first season. They narrowly avoided relegation in their first season in the first division, finishing 13th out of 15, but the following season (1986-7) finished bottom and were relegated back to Division Two.

In 1990 the club switched to the Essex Senior League, where it has remained since. Their most successful season was 1997-8, when they finished 6th (out of 14). However, they have finished second bottom on several occasions (1992-3, 1993-4, 199-5 and 1995-6), and finished bottom in 2003-4 and 2004-5. As there is no relegation from the Essex Senior League, the club's position has remained unchanged.Since taking over in february 2006,italian manager Enrico Tiritera, working with previous manager Steve Davidson, they managed 18 points in the last 12 games to lift them to third from bottom in 2005-06.The following season,2006-07,with the youngest team in the ESL,they finished 12th out of 16th,best finishing in the last 6 years and won the ESL Sportmanship award of 2006-07.They won away to Chalfont st peter 1-0 in the FA Cup and lost to Yaxley in the first round 2-0 at home.Their first team coach,Luke Purcell,a UEFA B,is at 23 years old,one of the youngest first team coaches at step 5 and was assistant director of SUFC Centre of Excellence for 4 years. Hullbridge youth team in 1999-00 reached the FA Youth Cup third round proper, the only youth side in Essex to do so,losing at home to Blackburn Rovers in front of a crowd of 1000.

what's the problem with the step 5 criteria? An enclosed fence that takes £ 5000 and one day to put up and one that half the grounds in the ESL haven't got...Hullbridge has been 20 years in the ESL and is a club with 23 football teams and a big community behind.I can't really see where's all the fuss is about. We can only get better Gary and that's what we have been doing. It won't be some so called wind up merchants on this forum hiding behind a computer that will prevent that.We are steadily moving forward and improving in every aspects of the club.It won't be a cup defeat that will change that...it might as well accelerate the process.. wink
