[Margate Football Club]

The Directors can now confirm that the petition to wind-up Margate Football Club has been dismissed.

 

This action taken by the court resulted from the Clubs Directors lodging a six figure sum with our Supervisor, Langley & Partners. This payment included the settlement of all small creditors included in the CVA, the Directors would like to thank all these creditors for their cooperation and support.

 

Good progress is being made by our 5 a-side contractors, who remain on programme for handover of the completed centre by 03 December 2007. Fencing and lighting is now being erected with construction of the foundations and drainage work complete.

 

A programme of radio advertising (voiced by our very own Jimmy Jackson) is due to commence shortly, together with local paper and leaflet promotion.

 

Block bookings for use of the courts have already been agreed with Football Mundial, who will launch their 5 a-side league programme from the new centre in January.

 

The Clubs application for a new licence, allowing opening hours to be extended in line with the 5 a-side centre, will be heard on 17 October 2007.

 

Finally, the board are pleased to announce the appointment of a new Director, local businessman Terry Painter, who will be taking responsibility for commercial matters within the Club.

As an exile I would like to say that this is all good news and is important for the future of the club, this year may not be the best on record performance wise but surely this is the type of announcement we have been craving. As long as we stay in this league, perhaps have a cup run or two seems to me that the future looks bright, or am I just being over optomistic
