Our next 5 games !

need to know

Recommended Posts

In our next 5 league game we play –

Aveley home on the 13th

Waltham Abbey away on the 16th

Wingate & Finchley away on the 20th

Brentwood Town away on the 27th

Arlesey Town home on the 30th

Looking at these games and considering we are unbeaten in the league away from home I would be looking at no less than 13 points. That would mean winning 4/5 and drawing with Brentwood.

Does anyone think this is possible or would you settle for less?

Aveley - Win

Waltham Abbey - Loss

Wingate & Finchley - Win

Brentwood - Loss

Arlesey - Draw

That is 7 points in my book on current form! Now prove me wrong!

After some research I'm changing my forecast to an AWAY WIN V Brentford Town:

While undefeated, a lot of their goals come late in the game.

They beat Northwood 4-1 at home...ETFC beat Northwood 3-1 away.

They drew 1-1 with Bury Town...ETFC drew 2-2 both at home.

They beat Ilford 1-0 away..ETFC beat them 2-0 at home.

Against better (higher in the table) opposition they've only won by a goal against Ware and drew 1-1 with Bury in their last 2 home games for a 3-2 total suggesting early season euphoria may be over or other teams are recognising Brentford strengths and countering them.

Their last game v Wyvenhoe Town was abandoned pending FA action ???? that might impact negatively on them.

They play their toughest opponent so far, Canvey Island away next match which could see their first defeat...which could:

a) demoralise them and see ETFC take advantage of their own away form or;

B) fire them up.

I'll go a).

Throw in ETFC's 2-1-0 record away.

Prediction: ETFC win 3-1 with late Brentford goal.

Well "need to know" you have 3 points in the bag out of your 13 let's see if the boys are up for the local derby with the mighty olympic chavvy!

Did you know the Olympic canoeing events have been moved to the Lee Valley showground (in Waltham Abbey). Neighbouring councillors are delighted that the area is going to be made World Class! I'm not sure the Olympics has enough money to flatten the whole of Waltham Abbey to make it World class in 5 years but you never know?

Another adjustment...just looked at Waltham Abbey's form and am Going for an ETFC win rather than my original draw.

WA have had three draws (two of them at home) aginst struggling teams and an away loss to Ilford (giving Ilford their first win of the season)

They've only scored 2 goals in their last three games.

and ETFC beat Northwood away while WA could only manage a draw at home.

ETFC beat Ilford at home while WA lost to them last start.

Seems to be a case of a side that started the season well is now struggling against a side that are doing well particularly away.

ETFC for the win.

Don't push your luck.

Two from two...looking at Wingate right now.

Checked out W & F form and:

A 3-1 loss away to waltham Abbey does not bode well for their chances given ETFC's 8-2 effort last night.

A loss away and an unconvincing win at home v Witham Town conceding 2 goals in the last 5 minutes does not stand up well against ETFC's 4-2 win away.

A 1-1 draw against cellar dwellers Wivenhoe Town with the W & F goal coming from a set play doesn't lend encouragement nor do two scoreless draws against lowly placed Potters bar Town and the draw ridden Waltham Forest.

They started the season reasonably well but appear to be struggling and will find it hard against an ETFC who are racking up quite an away record.

Predicting ETFC 3-0 win.
