i see he has been released by braintree.

With bromley and chelmsford last season.

I thought he was outstanding for Chelmsford in their game against us at HDP last season.

Would really be of help to our defence.Got pace and height.Similar to Sappleton imo, but possiblt better.Ryman experience

To be fair to RT we did need in Yianni's abscence, a right midfield player (Peters)and we had a gap in central midfield (KCA) so i think RT has got those loan signings very very right.

Most pressing need has always been a central defender; and either the club need to find a way to help RT with the funding-or RT has to put a couple of strikers /wingers on the transfer list.Pity, but defence must be a priority

You can afford to take risks up front, but can't take the risks in defence;and RT has got the balance wrong.

In fact 5 defenders 'left' the club in the summer-Oates,Sapps,Donovan,Protheroe(in his right back role) and Trott himself-retired.

Thus 5 defenders replaced by 2-Harte and Young.

Strikers gone Hockton.

Strikers signed-Haworth,Side,Watson and arguably Moir and Axon.

1 striker replaced by 5 signings in attack.

You could say in midfield that Yianni replaced Abbott (RT unlucky there with Yianni's injury but you normally get one long term injury, and what will happen when the likes of Young/Smith get suspended/injured which will inevitably happen). Because Protheroe could play in midfield or defence we also lost an extra midfield player .

(Wisker replaced by Morris)

Thats why it was blatantly obvious to anyone who had a `pulse and could count, that there would be a problem in central defence this season and an imbalance in RT signings, that is now catching him out big time, and could cost him his job.

I would add that to be fair to RT where he does sign players, they are normally good signings, but i am astounded that as a defender himself, he has not identified the imbalance and need to prioritise the defence.

The masterplan may have been to play Jay in defence, but then RT seems to have forgotten that would leave him short in midfield.

You start with a point every game so don't lose that point-get the defnece organised and stregthened, and try and get 3 poimts. You can still reach the play-offs if you act now

A few points I thought of reading your post MM. Firstly, Haworth was already with us on loan, and yes technically he did sign over the summer, but he was already with us as part of the squad. And Axon and Moir were already part of teh reserve set-up, and we would no doubt have all been critical of Trott ignoring the youth aspect of the club had the pair been allowed to leave and sign for another team. I agree maybe Oates and perhaps others shopuld have stayed, but the statement of 5 replacing 1 (although correct) doesn't seem to tell the whole story. But don't get me wrong, I agree that in the current situation we are a bit light in certain positions.

Balanced reply acknowledged.

Actually, i think RT was correct in releasing Oates and indeed everyone else he released (possible exception of Protheroe but i do not know the inside story).

My problem is/was always with the imbalance of replacements.

Again, the quality of replacements is/was fine and as good as we could expect, and RT makes good` signings-its just he seemed to be blind to the central defensive problem which was apparent to everyone but him it seems !!
