At the risk of opening up the numbers (of defenders) debate further, I do think that once Harte and Skinner are back, Snith goes back to the middle and Robin can "manage" from the technical area, we will see an improvement. Without Dean, we can't aford to drop Jay back into the defence either - don't forget that's where Robin had him ear-marked for. So some mitigating circumstances ... perhaps .... just a little?

 

Having said all that, the passing from just about evenyone last night left a bit to be desired. And yet, we still had more chances than Carshalton in the first half. I guess the response in the second half was the most diappointing thing for me.

Frankly-i think harte is as good, but it was obvious we would have injuries and suspensions.

 

Smith is ok as cover at right back, but there is not enough manpower to cover both full back positions.

 

All it has ever needed is a decent experienced central defender, with Smith as cover for right full back.A bit unlucky that dean who could go left back is injured.You can carry one player/one postion and get away with it, but not two out of the four defensive line ups as was shown last night apparently

We were rather battered down both flanks. I'd forgotten that Dean can play at left back as well. I wonder if we might have been better switching to three at the back - Smith, Young and Trott with Jackson and Peters as the wing-backs and allowing Moorris to take up hos more natural position. He's looked good to me in a central midfield role, but was fopund short of pace up against Michael Johnson (who wouldn't be) last night.

I will give Mr Trott an idea...get someone on loan its the only solution he knows anyway. Nothing will change his instance to play, or try to play should I say is becoming embarrassing he was truly awful.

 

Speak to Ebbsfleet maybe we can get a player from there, mind you we would have pay him! Gone by Christmas.
