For those of you not yet been trapped, cornered or duped into listening or havnt actually been listening to the BBC world service for the past 48 hours, please let me make you aware that Andy "The Hat" shot a very very lucky 44 on Saturday at Hobbs Cross to win by 2 shots.

He left the course to a standing ovation by Rock Steady & Myself.......ok heckling, abuse & general all round stick!

This is by way of a warning that if you see him coming towards you and he greets you with a sentence that starts "Did I tell you..." I advise you to RUN!

If he has your mobile number TURN IT OFF!

I don't know. 44 lucky shots plus the two air shots that I didn't count which would have made no difference to the result.

Shot a 48 on Sunday as well. It's amazing that Gill goes away for a girlie weekend and I play better at golf!

Now where can I send her to next week?

Answers on a postcard, please.

Got some time on my hands so will explain Bing,Bang,Bong.

Originally US sidebet game but we have modified the point system.

Good game because handicaps aren't used.

You have to play in strict golf etiquette....that is...furthest from the hole plays first..even when putting..so finishing out putting is out.

At the same time the more you play it..the more relaxed you become and work on memorising where longest shot was taken from.

BING=First ball on the green=1 point

BANG=Closest ball to the hole when ALL balls on the green=1 point

BONG=First ball into the hole=1 point

So you can see its important to play in etiquette order.

If the one player gets any 2 of the above, eg Bing/Bong=4 points, Bing/Bang=4 points, Bong/Bang=4 points

All 3 ie BING/BANG/BONG=9 points

To speed it up on the greens we appoint a BONGMASTER whose job it is is to remember where the holing putts were for each player.

Pretty simple game that is easy to score...usually put an A, I or O just above their score.

Essentially it rewards a good short game.

One variation we have played to reward good drives is to play BOOM,BING,BANG,BONG on Par 4's and 5's.

BOOM goes to longest drive on fairway.

Scoring:

BOOM=1

Bing=1

Bang=1

Bong=1

Any 2=4 points

Any 3=9 points

Any 4=16 points.

Yesterday we (4 of us) played Bing,Bang,Bong (no Boom)

Show you the scores of myself and my golfing nemesis.

Hole Waggamick Lulaba Lad (Stokes)

1. Bang (10cm) 1 pt Bing (15m), Bong (1.5m) 4pts

2. Bang 1pt (5pts cumulative

3. Other 2 got BBB's.

4. Bong 1 (2pts cum) Bang 1 (6)

5 Bong 1 (3) Bing 1 (7)

6. Bang 1 (4) Bing 1 (8)

7. Bang 1 (5) Bong 1 (9)

8. Bang, Bong 4 (13)

9. Bang,Bong 4 (9) Bing 1 (140

10. Bing 1(15)

11. Bing 1 (16)

12. Bing,Bang 4 (13)

13. Bang 1 (14) Bong 1 (17)

14.

15. Bong 1 (15)

16. Bing 1 (16)

17. Bing,Bong 4 (21)

18 Bing,Bong 4 (20)

Sounds good. Bl..dy marvellous. Mind you, it's only 9 holes. Can't walk round 18 as it's too far for an old un like me.

If my score betters my age, then I'm happy.

Gazza can't do that as he is only 34! laugh
