On a sunny but windy afternoon at Hartsdown Park, Whitstable Town Reserves made up for their defeat last week at the hands of Margate, thanks to a wonder individual effort and a very dodgy penalty decision, though the 'Gate were very thin on attacking options due to injuries.

In the 5th minute Daryn Vanhinsberg turned the Whitstable defence and put over a good cross which the defence had to put behind for a corner. Two minutes later a lovely crossfield ball by Robbie Summers found Neil Hoggart who pushed the ball to Daniel Gonzales-Beldo on the right who tried to find Vanhinsberg with his cross but Wayne Budge, the Whitstable keeper, managed to cut it out. Whitstable then had a free kick on the right but Hogart managed to clear the danger. Anthony Whittaker then had a shot which was well blocked by the hard working John Hindley. Margate nearly took the lead in the 15th minute when a free kick from Hoggart was met superbly by the incoming Gary Emanuel but his fierce header rattled the underside of the bar and bounced down close to the line but nobody could get to the rebound.

Darren Budge then had a great chance a minute later for Whitstable but, when it looked easier to score, he pulled his shot well wide of the target. In the 25th minute Gary Roberts hit a shot straight at Damion Rowlands. Two minutes later Jake Eastwood, who played well at the heart of the defence along with Emanuel, played a great ball to Hoggart whose cross found Vanhinsberg but his shot was fired just wide of the right post.

In the 34th minute, Whittaker put over a great cross which was met by Roberts whose downward header was well saved at his left post by Rowlands. Eight minutes later Roberts had a great chance to put his side one up when he was clear on goal but somehow put his shot wide of the target. Sunmmers then had the last effort of the half when he hit a good shot from outside the area but the ball went straight into the keepers arms.

Margate had the first chance in the second half after 53 minutes, when Hoggart crossed on the right and found Shane Brown but his header fell straight to Budge in the Whitstable goal. Then in the 57th minute Whitstable took the lead from their captain Barry Robinson, who picked the ball up in the middle of the park, turned and ran at the Margate defence before unleashing a shot from 30 yards which flew into the top right hand corner of the goal.

Emanuel then had a chance to level in the 61st minute when a ball from Ryan Harker found Brown who in turn found Emanuel who turned and shot but was deflected for a corner. Then a bad decision from the ref who consulted with his linesman, gave Whitstable a 2-0 lead. Roberts burst through towards the goal and Emanuel brought him down just outside the area but a very dubious penalty was awarded. Roberts stepped up and fired it into the net.

In the 74 minute Rob Summers put over a free kick which Emanuel rose to meet but unfortunately the ball went just over his head. Roberts then burst through again and found Bertie Braiwood but his effort went wide of the goal. In the 42nd minute Hoggart swung a dangerous corner in but the Whitstable defence managed to clear, after the ball bounced around dangerously in the area. Then a minute later Whitstable had the last chance of the match when a cross by Dean Gram was headed wide by Whittaker.

he was very surprised that you could write a report that long and have it up on this board within half an hour bearing in mind that you are on holiday . He said, and I quote 'that useless steak of p1ss takes days to produce any report that I need and normally its all wrong'

And thats the whole truth and nothing but the truth
