Watched Dolphin vs Birch club yesterday and some of the football was good lets not forget we have plucked a few from these sunday leagues of late. Morris and Smith both played for active on sundays before getting signed for margate.

 

I think most of the reserves still play Sunday league or u18s so they do serve a good purpose and Ima more managers and scouts should look for players here.

 

Dan you and I could name quite a few over the last few years who have come from sunday fotty to first team locally alone.

 

Warren, ollie and gavin schultz

Dan Dolton

Dan Wisker

Scott Holden

Louis Smith

Kieran Morris

Lee Mischall

yes but have they actually come from sunday football or were they playing it as enjoyment (whilst playing at a better level saturday?!). Still think if you have not played at this level by the age of 23 then you're not really going to make an impact.

Just making a point that we should'nyt overlook the potetial lerking in our Sunday and Saturday leagues come to that. The Shultz Brothers were only playing Sunday football. granted the other were all playing reserve team football but only now and then. I still think there are players locally who need that little push to make it further.

 

I watch a lot of local football because my own boys aswell as my old players play and I have seen a few players who would do a job. the likes of Lee spillet and Tom Tazangardes to name 2. I just believe need a bit of quality coaching to make them the finished article.

I can name 2 lads, who both play/played local football, who if they had a bit more dedication, could be playing League football,Archie Ward, Ben Hancock.

Ben is playing again and I watched him yesterday playing for Dolphin along side one of my sons. He still can play and has been clean for over 3 years now still a good player but could have been so much more.

Some very good points here. I agree with BigTW, there is potenial in the local leagues, I have played with most of the above named and they deserve to be playimng at the level. Also the amount of local players that could of made it but didnt. Ben Hancock is a very good example, he was rated better than Bowyer at Charlton ! A lot of players that use to play for Cherry Orchard, Ramsgate Albion, River Sports on Saturdays could of gone higher. Also a few years back De Ville, Park Rangers also had players that were as good or better than whats on show in the Ryman today.

Ben played for me when I was running Dolphin 2 seasons ago, one of the best players I have played with, different level.

awwwww thanks Dan, could i add that i played for Deccar Sports to with people like Clive Haywood,Gary Pugh,Grant & Dale Walton.All went on to a higher level, not me i was sh!t.LOL

Yes Bob played also Grant/Dales dad Gordon Walton, also Charlie McClincey, who played for Pro in Scotland, and also Ramsgate, god the list goes on, and on
