v Torquay

UP FLEET

Recommended Posts

well i enjoyed that one,a very good hard fort game and thoroughly deserved, we defended outstandingly, and luke moore always looked hungry for goal. The motm i thought was a good choice and was mine too, every player needs a pat on the back for that performance.Torquay looked dangerous going forward in spells, and the number 26 and sills looked like they was going to run riot at one stage, but again well done to the defence today. top draw performance, now if we can get results against the better teams, lets keep this up.... Also credit where its due to the drummer,s gang they done well today especially after the first goal, good atmosphere....i for one am one happy yid...

Great team performance - both teams wanted to win this one which lead to an exciting game, end-to-end action. Ref did his best to let the game flow as much as possible. Great goal by Long to secure 3 very well earned points for 'Fleet. McPhee fully deserved MoM - I think he def wanted to score against his old club!

Well done to all who turned up, dunno what else the club can do to get fans to turn-up..

This was a match I thoroughly enjoyed watching; one of the best so far this season in terms of the team committing themselves to the game, especially against one of the bigger teams in the league.

Fair enough the first half was saw what we often saw: no one getting of the end of those long balls we either love or hate. But in the second half, there was more passing in the midfield amongst McPhee, Long and DeBolla etc. A nice header by Luke Moore from a McPhee cross and a fantastic little run by Stacy Long to score the winning goal.

Sacha Opinel was also a player that stood out, getting into those tackles and winning the ball. Excellent work from him as always. I'd also like to note how I think that Raphael Nade is gradually improving his game. Although he's taking his time, I believe he will be scoring more and more goals soon enough.

Off to Aldershot on Tuesday night, a very tough match away from home. It will be the toughest match of the season so far....bring them on!

Well done, Fleet.

As was said on a different thread, the game changed with the substitution.

To an extent LD got lucky, and fair play to him for that as he at least tried a plan B. Ricketts came on as a defensive measure as LD felt that McPhee was struggling against their left winger (although I though McPhee was outstanding).

By pushing McPhee forward, it gave us the width that had been lacking in the first half, freed up the rather cluttered centre ground and allowed DeBolla and Long that much more time and space in which to operate.

When did Liam say that C.G.?

On RK, during his after match interview with Chas Webster.
About 5.30 pm, just after Stacey's interview.

I thought Sacha Opinel contained Tim Sills very well, insomuch that Sills was booked for a foul on Sacha, and only managing long range shots. Mind you Sacha was all over him like a rash. Sills must have got a little frustrated at the attention being paid to him by our french dynamo. yay
