So, the Ebbsfleet sponsors are running a huge promotion to ensure we are alware that the Ebbsfleet station is up and running from 19th next month...

And how do they do this? By letting everyone who buys anything at Bluewater get a '2 for 1' deal on train jounrneys from Ebbsfleet station as long as they produce a receipt.

It surprised me that they never thought to run a similar thing for 'Fleet fans - you know the kinda thing, produce a match ticket (or Season Ticket book) to get same offer or maybe even a better discount!

And on the subject of Eurostar - I understand they now have a shop at Bluewater, anyone know if they have 'Fleet shirts on display/for sale there?

I must admit that when they drew a season ticket number out of the hat to win two free tickets to Paris on the Eurostar at the first home game I thought that they where going to do it at every home match. frown

However, before any of us start moaning about what Eurostar aren't doing for the Fleet we should probably think about what they are doing. I haven't a clue how much money they have given us but I reckon it is a safe bet that we would struggle without it.

I didn't see that - I take it all back!

And how is this golden ticket put in the programme. If I buy a programme do I really have a chance of winning or will the ticket have accidentally dropped out earlier? Not that I am suggesting any foul play. Just better make sure that all such competitions are fair and legal...

'Course it's fair.
Last year Harry J got on the crossbar challenge, and I won the 50/50.

Mrs PatMan was in Bluewater during the week, and I asked her to look into the Eurostar shop to see if they had any link with Ebbsfleet being promoted...

She was delighted to report (the 'Fleet are HER team, after all) that the guy handing out the '2 for 1' tickets was wearing the home shirt!

Well Done ...

In terms of promoting the local area, I saw a number of huge billboard advertisements at stations on the South West Trains line from Waterloo to Reading with Ebbsfleet not only on the map but emblazoned across the advert in the phrase: "goodbye Waterloo, hello Ebbsfleet". At least, given time, people will have heard of the place, instead of saying, "where is Ebbsfleet anyway?"
