I can't see how we "over achieved" last season? We achieved what we achieved. Fact...Another point made in hindsight.

Yesterday was poor. The managment know it, the players know it, the supporters know it. What purpose does it serve to come on here and moan? Like JL said constructive criticism is fine but by nature of the (possible) over achievement comment would suggest that you believe othrwise?

Chin Up lads its only the start of October.....alot of football to be played.

This league is alot harder this year with some bloody good players in some teams. Even the mighty Chelmo have had a couple of bloody noses.

You have an advantage - Matt Jones- apart from being a nice guy is a bloody good manager. He will sort it out as will the squad.

It hasn't helped that you've lost a couple of top class players, and a couple of injuries. Lots of Football to come.....

Hmm, where do we begin ! - Right, lets start with ETU. I thought they looked a good side and no complaints here - They (on the day) deserved it so well done - Oh and cheers for the 5 minutes of hell with the footage ! grin Could have at least edited our 2 goals in for us to have some consolation though smile

Now to us..I think Heffs summed up in the programme when he said the lads know when they are not doing well when the fans go silent. I think that is one of the most spot on frases. There was a stunned silence - Come on lads, my lyrical chords need a waxing again ! grin

I suppose (if) this is going to be our bad run, i would rather it be now than latter stages of the season.

Ok, to the positive overtures. Last season we stuttered and spluttered up until December, so i am keeping the belief we are going to get going again.

And, to put things into a more persective view. I had the pleasure of standing with Gameo (well he was sitting) at a youth game yesterday. He (like me) was just watching a family member - Anyway, another young lad on the pitch went crashing off the touchline and landed on concrete and bang broken arm.

So, i guess, what i am trying to say is "Ok, we may not be doing well at the mo, we maybe all frustrated as much as the players, but ultamately, it is only a game and we are better off than a lot of folk"

"I can't see how we "over achieved" last season? We achieved what we achieved. Fact...Another point made in hindsight."

You appear to have failed to grasp the meaning of the word "overachieve," Gazza....

"Overachieve...."

"To perform better or achieve a greater degree of success than expected."

I think we are victims of last seasons success. Teams want to beat us more this season. I thought we have looked short of ideas at times this season. Prehaps it could be because teams turn up against us knowing player for player what we are going to do. With the exception of Abbott and Bradley, we have pretty much the same starting 11 as last season. Im sure an opposing teams manager is then well placed to brief his players on our strengths and weak areas are (Hunter being the holding player as an example) I think in Hodgie and Flack we have two players who despite knowing what they are going to do, cant be stopped at times as they are too good. The problem is that with a squad as small as ours we dont have the chance to really mix things up a bit. Prehaps we are a little stale at the moment.

Conceding as many goals in the last 2 home games as we did throughout the whole of last season at New Lodge is hard to take....but that’s not as hard as losing 4 league games on the bounce.

Whereas we’re much more attacking than last season, this has had the downfall of making us more susceptible to conceding goals. The change in tactics coupled with the downturn in form of some key players, in my opinion has led to these disastrous results.

I’ve got great confidence in Matt Jones, but was concerned by his substitutions on Saturday when we went 4-2 down. It looked to me that the changes he made were a damage limitation exercise. He took off our most creative player (Hodges), tucked in the wide men who were left on the pitch so we lost all our width and opted to battle it out in midfield which was an area where ETU were particularly strong. This tactic is fine when you’re trying to scrape a draw, but surely not when you’re losing 4-2?

We’ve got a big week ahead of us now and I hope that the management find some answers to our problems quickly or we’re going to reach the middle of October fighting to keep our season alive.

Thanks for that Peter, now I know what "Overachieve" means smirk I can confirm that we did not overachieve last season, and so far this season, we have (subject to clarification of the meaning) underachieved. grin

Thanx for posting the video clip Rocket - that cheered me up no end - NOT !!! Actually, in all honesty it was (almost) nice to see your small band of followers enjoying their moment and nobody is going to say ETU didn't enjoy the win. And for all us Ricay fans down t'other end from the goals, the footage might actually prove useful in trying to understand exactly how we let five in at home...

I agree Neil, it's the first time i have seen a mini bus load of fans (all 15 of them) have such a good time.

Well done ETU & Fan's.

But always remember...WE WILL BE BACK
