Billericay 2-5 East Thurrock Utd FT

Did,nt think we looked too bad to start with. 1-0 up passing the ball well and looked the better side. From where I was standing the goalkeeper looked at fault for the first two goals. Flack a penalty and we went in 1-2 down.

Second half quick equaliser but then a mixture of poor defending and good skill for the ET No.8 and we are 2-4 down. ET last goal was handball but I do not think it would have made any difference. We have let in 9 goals in the last two home games. I think that says it all !!!

Feel a bit sorry for Paul Abbott. Big shoes for him to fill. Maybe he should have been subbed today, but it does not help everyone getting on his back.

Not sure where the season goes from here.

Sounds pretty gruesome - beginning to think I made the right decision to stay at home and watch the rugby.

Frankly after Tuesday night I was a bit short of enthusiasm.

Come on lads shake it up ready for Tuesday, we really have to get back on track. I don't know who played in goal but I was a bit shouted down when I suggested that letting an excellent goalie go out on loan was a bit risky in view of Billy's injury record - the above suggested some goalkeeping errors.

We must get the defence back on track as this has been the cornerstone of our success. Wishing again for those 1 nil wins that we used to grind out!!

We had that problem last season with Abbott, if his confidence is down then he won't play well and if people are getting on his back then everything he does is terrible. The best thing you can do is give him support, on a good day he is a very good player.

What about Friday night though?

Yesterday was very disappointing. Having got it back to 2-2 so early in the second half, I thought three points were on the cards, but the two quick goals afterwards killed it.

Anyway, onto Tuesday night and a repeat of the FA Cup game would be nice.

I don't normally post here since my last 'run in' with one particular mod on this site, (I am now a 'lurker') but I reckon this is a funny old football forum ... it seems like you're not allowed to criticise the team when things aren't going well.

I notice that none of the 'usual suspects' (apart from TC - full respect) have posted on this thread.

All you're allowed to do is wax lyrical about the loyal support and state that things will be OK and teamwork will prevail.

Well I don't think that I'm very much different from most people that pay through the turnstile to watch BTFC - a lot of us have allegiances to other clubs and we have all experienced ups and downs with these clubs.

We've watched football at every level - from England, Champions League, FA Cup finals down to ESL and very few of us actually post on here.

What I'm trying to say is BTFC are just dippping after possibly over achieving last season, it is allowed to moan at the team and management when things are going wrong as we are the actual paying punters.

Having said all this I doubt if anyone will respond or take notice of this post as I am not one of the regulars on here, just an ordinary bloke who pays to watch BTFC.

Perhaps it's my fault? I did talk of a deal with the devil where I contemplated giving up our promotion prospects for a record breaking FA Cup run.

Roll on the 3rd rounder proper tie at The Emirates. Am I right in thinking that we will bag half of the £2.5m gate receipts for that game?

Don't blame yoursef mate... 'sh1t happens', but who knows - Canvey made it to the FA cup later stages a few years ago and were live on the Beeb.

A day out at the emirates would be great...... As they say 'it's a funny old game'!

Not as ordinary as me grin

Can't agree that we "over achieved" last season. That was the third season on the trot that we'd finished in the top half dozen (ish). There's no doubt in my mind that we could have been holding our own in the Connie South for a couple of years now.

As the saying go's.. "Form is temporary, class is permenant."

Fair comment Rick, we missed out on promotion last season by the width of a fag paper, but it's difficult to consistently challenge at the top especially when you've lost a couple of quality players.

Football is cyclical - you have ups and downs.

All I was trying to point out out in my original post is that sometimes it is ok to question the team and management on here without feeling like a traitor to the cause.

I think criticism is fine as long as its generally constructive.

Our current form is shocking, that's plain for anyone to see - but to me saying "The team is sh*t" or the "Management is sh*t" or whatever the particular gripe may be doesn't really achieve very much.

If people can suggest a reason as to this downturn and perhaps more importantly a solution then I'm sure all criticsm would be greatfully received.

In my view we are lacking a bit of mobility and athleticism at the back and in midfield at the moment. Hopefully we can bring one or two in to inject a bit of dynamism into those areas but I fully appreciate that there are constraints that we have to operate within.
