Well, it wasn't a great spectacle, and Ashford are one of the weaker teams...however, we were without McKimm, Standen, Harte, Skinner (plus not forgetting long-term injury Yianni). In the circumstances it is not a bad result. Anyone who thinks we were going to win 3 or 4-0 today is not being realistic.

 

I thought Morris did well at right-back. Smith was beaten a few times at left-back by their wide player. Perhaps their manager looked at our forum because most of their moves seemed to come down Ashford's right.

 

We looked more threatening when Howarth came on in the second half. As usual he won everything in the air.

JJ was my MOTM - good movement and some excellent crosses but as a whole disappointed with the team performance against a side second from bottom.

 

Their keeper was good for a laugh though!

Jackson was a bit wild with his shooting though. I'd have said the MOM for The Blues (with Tangerine socks) was Ryan Peters, who looked a class above the rest of us (don't understand why he went off for Haworth and Cader-Andrews stayed on.

That surprises i thought JJ was very poor today, as was Pinnock, Side, Smith has had better games and i don't think Saunders had a good game either imo. The man of the match for me is probably Ryan Peters, he seemed the most threatening player out on the pitch.

Haworth should have started, as when he came on that seemed to be something a bit extra about us, but he came into the game too late really as everyone seemed pretty flat tbh and just wanted to go home. Don't know if that was because of the petrol fumes or not. Anyway a draw was a fair result.

As well as all the players under 22 on the pitch yesterday,there were of course Bowles,Moir (17) and Axon on bench.

 

Must be youngest line up ever.

 

Creditable result then.

 

Can we maintain it for Tuesday-very difficult imo.

 

Can these younger players cope with work, then travel, then a full bloodied 95 minutes-personally i doubt it, and thats why you can only play younger players occasionally .

 

It may help having Peters and KCA though, as i guess they are full time ?
