So there IS a quiz night. had heard rumours of slip being given out at meeting, although I was not given one. Frey Bentos want to defend their Title!

Good news then Dr Statham: I've just had it confirmed that it will take place at the usual place (i.e the Polish Association) on Thursday 18th October.

Another enjoyable quiz night, so thanks to all concerned. The usually intellectually challenging questions such as "What is the colour of Noddy's hat", did for my team.

 

The only drawback is falling numbers. It isn't cheap to hire the club, and after expenses, the profit will not be great (though every little helps). I wonder what the underlying purpose of the quiz evening is. Is it to provide a good night out for regulars? Or is it to make money that the club badly needs at present?

 

If the latter, then we perhaps need to get others involved as the larger the numbers, the more money will be made. If its just an internal thing for a good night out, then continue as it is.

Personally, I don't think it has been well publicised. I'd totally forgotten about it, as had Emma, and there was only a late reminder on here about it a week ago.

 

Whilst I couldn't attend in full, I am sure Radders did a fine job in hosting again!

I'll be honest in saying I too forgot it was on, had I remembered I would have gone and most probably have got a team of at least 4 people together. Maybe it's something that next time, posters could be displayed around various outlets in the town, an email to Time 106.6 FM, it was in the matchday programme though! How many did actually go and was there a profit made? Can anyone speak to the owners of the Polish Club to maybe get reduced hire fees (or free hire?) in return for a full page programme advert, plus maybe advertising on the match posters?

I'd like to partly put my hands up to this - i probably wasn't in touch enough with the organisers of the quiz to help with the advertising as we had our amateur dramatics show performances starting on thursday...agree with Ted, should make a much bigger effort with the advertising to get externals in next time.

 

As for the question of whether we can barter the Polish Club down on rates, Eddie and the others at the Club already offer us discounted rates as we are long term users of the club, i really don't think we could ask them for much more.
