Suspensions Looming - SORT IT OUT KEN!

Margate Reserves could be facing 3 players suspensions after Ken Tomlinson's failure to hand over fines to players or players managers for them to pay.

It came to my notice that this very serious problem has occurred with fines dating back to May last year.

If it had been one letter going astray in the post i could understand that, but 6 i cannot. 1 player for the U18's that could be afected is Ollie Gray, who represents Kent at county level.

I do hope that letters for the first team are dealt with by trotty and not KT.

Please sort it out Ken for the sake of our players and the Clubs good name.

My apologies to KT, if he is not the culprit, but you can understand my frustration.

Steve Morrow sent off £84, which has been received, but cannot be processed due to them not knowing Harker's address/d.o.b details.

Even after this is processed there will still be a further £60 to pay, due to the fines being paid late.(Albrecht,Harker and Heath)

Appreciate if the club can pay this to settle any outstanding debt.

I am prepared to pay the £8 for my sons original booking

(Albrecht - 10 May 07), which i would have paid had i received the original letter on time.

I to would be astounded if it was KT's Fault. Introduce yours self to Ken on Tuesday and really find out what happened. Which you should have done before making your statement anyway.

I don't really know the background to all of this but why did the players get fined in the first place?

Perhaps if the situation hadn't arisen we wouldn't have what appears to be a problem now?

I dont want to point blame if KT is an innocent party but,

I can only state what i know or have been told.

The letter that i have from Kent FA, is addressed to KT at what looks like a personal address and is dated 10/09/2007.

It also states ...'Ensure that £28 is paid by 17/09/2007'.

Steve Morrow told me personally that he received the letter on 27/9/2007.

How can SM pay the fine on time???

He received this letter 10 days after the request for the £28. Now the Kent FA want a further £20 for each of the 3 players.

A further £60 in total.

These were for 3 yellow cards at £8 each = £24 in total

(Margate have let this escalate to now £144)

All i want is for my son to be playing again and for me to be watching him perform.

I hope that this is resolved very soon as a Margate reserve side without these few is a weakened reserve side.

Can someone please explain what this thread is about? Who is responsible for paying fines? Is it the club or the player?

Would I be right to think it is the player? If that is so then obviously players know they have been shown a card, so do they not know they have to pay a fine until someone tells them? Is the club supposed to tell them and is this thread a complaint that the club has not done so? Or not done so quick enough?

And what was the club's response when the players asked what was happening? Or have they not taken it up with the club but just raised it on this message board?

I hope the last is not the case, but could someone please explain? It looks like something that could be sorted out very easily.

The players are responsible to pay their fines but they cannot pay them untill they receive the fine in writing. After you get booked the referee sends it into the FA who in turn print the fine out with the refs report and sends it to the club secretary. The team manager should then be handed the letter to give to the player who pays the fine and the secretary sends this to the fa department and its as easy as that.

I can't speak for all the players but Dans paper work was left somewhere he thought it had been dealt and was waiting for an appeal date unbeknown to him the paper work was sitting somewhere for two nearly 3 months and it was to late.

Thanks for the explanation bigtw. So it looks like communications from the FA are not reaching the players.

Perhaps the club doesn't have an easy means of passing stuff on, so here's one idea: how about putting all communications that have to be passed on in one specific place, like a box or a plastic tray somewhere the players have access to, so that each time they go to the club they can check to see if their notification or whatever has arrived?

Maybe such a system already exists. I don't want to insult anybody and tell them how to do their jobs, but something is clearly going wrong for this thread to have been started.

And as a fail-safe if a player hasn't heard anything for a few weeks after getting booked then he should phone the club (or the FA) to ask what is going on (as MF suggests above).

How about it folks?

The problem with bad administration is the players lose their right to appeal and the fines are doubled if not paid within 14 days. All fines go to the club secretary Ken but I don't think it would be Kens mistake probably who ever he passes it on to at the club either the office or team manager oversight.
