Wader
Robbie. I was thinking of raking out some loose change and buying 51% of the 'shares', then picking the worst possible team every week, sacking the gaffer and turning the pitch over to junior motorcross on non-match days. Whaddya reckon? Seriously, I'll be surprised if you hit the 5,000 mark this year. If you do, bloody good luck. (I have purchased by proxy already by the way, haha!). Explain this bit though - A major claim to investors was that the club would aim for Conference National in 5 years. How is that to happen on a recreation field not owned by the club and open to anyone to use at any time? Where is the money coming from to build a Conference National ground, let alone the wage bill to fund the team that can achieve that? What is happening to the £4 or so of each investors 'share' that isn't going to the club? Is this money going straight into the pockets of the Internet Company that came up with the scheme? RobbieO
I agree Wader - a lot of wishful thinking, its getting massive press for the club though. My legs will have gone by then, so i'll be playing for the veterans on a field somewhere. Probably at right Back!
Wader
I think some people are a bit confused though. We've been getting massive overspill from your internet companies efforts. Ta!

jasonhiggins
Hi, I thought it might be worth answering a few of the issues posted here. Some are covered in the FAQs at http://www.mybufc.com/faq.aspx but, specifically, here are the main points from above. 1) It is not a share issue. £23.50 is an annual membership which gives a single voting right on all issues relating to club and team. Legal ownership, however, remains as a charitable trust. *IF* 90% of members decided to sell the club, all revenues would go to charity as part of the written constitution. In other words, profiteering or "carpet bagging" is removed as an option for any party. 2) The ground is being developed at the end of the season which is unrelated to anything that may or may not happen with myBUFC (see http://biggleswadeunited.intheteam.com/m...mp;itemCount=20 ). What is needed with the ground in future years remains to be seen and is dependant on the FA at the time but it will be up to the management of myBUFC to decide the route that is taken. Potentially, at the current level, around £500,000 of additional investment will come into the club over the 5 years which will help in all areas. 3) The £4 (minus transaction fee) will be used to develop the interface for the membership. However, the membership will be able to vote on the fee levels each year AND how (and with whom) it is spent. No-one is doing this to make any inflated profits. 4) Glad BTFC have seen an increase in traffic lately but it is nothing to the volume of interest the club has had and has lead to over 1000 sign-ups - over half of which are fully paid up members already. 5) There are similar schemes in Israel and France and you may also like to see www.myfootballclub.co.uk who are attempting a much more ambitous takeover of higher league club. Finally, yes - good shot Robbie but you could have had the decency to score for me - an hour and a half perched holding a camera and not one goal Hope that helps! Wader
Great shout Mr Higgins, all very laudable and I'm sure robust enough to deal with any queries that The FA will get with regard to detail of operation etc. From what you say though you should have no worries as it is only membership that the punters are actually buying into/renewing each season. I was quite put off when I went to buy though, the terms and conditions are heavy and seemingly all in favour of one party, plus it appeared to leave it open that members may be liable for club debts or costs run up - perhaps you can clarify that point? My only gripe was the marketing claim of Conf National in 5 years. Misleading to say the least. It seems in reality that a share buys you a vote in how things are run and the team selection. How is that monitored/verified/accounted for? In these days of TV companies getting into trouble for voting irregularities it would have to be so above board and transparent. Just wondering how that is achieved here and how it is audited? Well done though for the experiment and good luck - all quite novel.
