Today at Abingdon

Unfortunately the game was over after 4 mins, shame Charles wasnt on today because we did create a couple of chances for him. Did we have a shot on target all game btw? Worrying because we are in this position and i have not seen us play against any team this season that was better than mediocre. Nice to see Josy bak in action today always one of my fave slough players. Amazed that Brooks and Carbone did not start for them as the players in their repsective positions looked pretty average. Odiambo finished his well but it seemed very easy for him. Interesting to see what will happen in the future and were Lewis & Denton and co just watching or was their another reason for their visit??

Hmmm... what players would you keep from the current squad if you were manager? Now that sounds like (if enough people respond) a good article to go into the matchday programme! Ok I'll start the ball rolling and I'd keep: Leon Woodruffe, Terry Davies, Danny Jefferies and Dean Harper also give the 3 kids a chance to shine (Tom Attrell and the two Slough Juniors).

Id keep Davies, Murphy, DJ, Leon, Ellis and Moleski. Dont really think the youngsters are much cop, we've just seen them in glimpses.

Id like to see players who have heart kept on...!

Are you really surprised at whats happening?

On paper we have some players, I think, that can compete in this division.

Barnard, Daly, Mills, Browne, Murphy, Woodruff, Moleski, Jeffries, Wilko, Davies, CJ, Charles.

Pre season was a bit of a disaster with hardly any of these players being involved.

When the season starts we don't have a settled team for various reasons ranging from injuries, moving house to working.

Discipline has been mentioned a few times on this forum as a reason why we've lost.

The only question that I have is, would this have happened if someone like Graham Roberts was in charge?

I try to avoid being unnecessarily harsh, but I just feel that there are too many players who aren't quite at the standard required for whatever reason. Either the management can't see it, which is worrying, or they can't/won't do something about it. When we're getting played off the park most games, it is just disheartening.

To answer the question, I think I would retain Harper, Mills if he's still around, Murphy (if fit), Jefferies and Davies - so that makes 5. I think the rest would be easily replaceable though clearly it's difficult to bring in 12-15 new players in one go! I'd like to see more of the kids given a go. Can it really be much worse than what we've got?

It can't, which is why at three nil down it was madness to bring on Matt Miller. Matt is a lovely bloke who tries incredibly hard but we know he isn't going to turn the game and neither were either of the two juniors on the bench but surely this was an ideal opportunity to give them experience at this level. The second half was a training game with Abingdon coasting.

Wilko is one of my footballing heroes, a great guy and I can't believe I'm going to type this but maybe he isn't management material and we need to get someone in fast who is able to work on a tight budget with contacts that go beyond ex-team mates.

To follow up on Ted's point about the number of players at training on Thursday. I think it was only 5 of the squad weren't there. I think the most important of these would be the keeper, Barnard. It must be important for the keeper and defence to build an understanding in training and without Barnard, Woody (is normally there) and Daly (turns up occasionally dependent on work commitments)there, this is never going to happen.

The players who I would keep would be Woody, Harper, Jeffreys, Davies, Murphy, Moleski. I haven't seen enough of the youngsters to comment on them.

Wilko is the first to admit he doesn't have the experience as a manager and that is one of the reasons Roddis is here having coached previously.

Well, I tend to agree Chris. Over the next two weeks we play Hillingdon twice and Bracknell. If we don't get six points and stay in the trophy we are screwed.
