Ex-Pros in their Twilight Years?

I didn't know until recently that Jimmy Greaves had played for Chelmsford in the twilight of his career (76-77).

 

Did we ever have any big names play a few games for us before they hung up their boots?

 

I suppose one not so famous (over here) one might be Amara Simba (2001-02) who played for some top French teams and even France a few times under Platini.

Lee Shearer played for England Under 18' and got in the England Under 21 squad, plays for us.

 

Ben Lewis who is currently suspended was looking good to become a West Ham first teamer until he completed ruined his knee!

What about when you were in the football league? Did you have any old style biggish names ever turn out for ya ?

Ricky Newman and Mark Beeney both played their early years with us. David Sadler went onto to play for Man U and England in the 50s/60s, bit before my time! Also Gary Breen was a youngster with us, Peter Taylor 'twilighed' with us and of course Warren Barton had a spell with the club before moving to Wimbledon.

That would be Steve Foster mate , famous for wearing a headband , mind you they were both clumsy galoots , think Foster actually played for England !
