Tonight's game at AFC Hayes (League Cup)

Recommended Posts

Shocking. A performance so far removed from Saturday it is unbelievable. Same starting eleven just without the same verve. Hugely puzzling. Watching Slough is like watching a Beckett play you spend your whole time asking the "big" questions:

Why I am here? What is the point? Is there an all powerful being? Does he support Wycombe?

I actually thought AFC Hayes played really well - quick passing, good movement, strength, getting the ball out wide and getting good crosses in - everything we weren't doing. But to lose so easily is worrying, and we couldn't even keep our discipline.

The newbies (Mugisha, Ellis, Attrell, Gill) looked good but the rest of the side needs a big rethink in terms of personnel and tactics. We need players to be able to compete, so why is it the likes of AFC Hayes can attract the kind of players who tore us apart tonight (who would cost very little) and we can't?

Surely that must mean the end for Wilko as manager, the established players obviously don't have any respect for him,or he is just plainly useless as a manager, how many games do we need to lose before something is done ? I have run Sunday sides with more commitment.

Very disapointed with our defending felt sorry for Barney in goal. Lacked any invention going forward.

Thought John Ellis looked good when he came on, gave us more width and actually got in the box which our strikers had trouble finding!

Any idea where he's come from?

And you are? Do you intent to apply for the managers post?

Marcus, two off for Slough (Roddis and Harper - Roddis straight red after a mini-brawl and Harper second booking), one for AFC from the same brawl. Sorry, that might have been clear if I had concentrated on my texts rather than creating an elaborate fiction.

Have to agree that AFC looked the best side we've played this season but the concern is the way we rolled over. Particularly in the second half. The first half started off reasonably even but once they got the first they never looked back. I expected us to come out second half a la Gosport and give it a good go but it just didn't happen.

Yes very disapointing ..looked ok until they scored after 20mins then it was down hill all the way !

I cant understand either that we seam not to really break our downhill slide ..of course winning games makes confidence and also we need some breaks, just as things look better off the pitch , we continue to lose our way on the pitch ...

it really is difficult to motivate the whole club at the moment and with an important game next tuesday looming we need to sort it out before its too late too... I am encouraged by the new boys, they are the future but also are the current players who need to knuckle in and support those young lads..both need each other to overcome our problems.. and a few back from injury would also help especially in mid field..

keep our chins up..together we can sort it..

cheers chris sliski

Is it my fading memory or is this "players being unavailable" something that has materialised this season? I certainly cannot recall the likes of Boot, Winston, Hodges, Mautone, Haki (other than his enforced absence!), Carbon, Salisbury et al ever being "unavailable".

At the end of the day, whats the point of having players who don't turn up to training and then believe its their right to get straight into the team. The same goes for players who have "other commitments" i.e. working on match days - You can't run a club like that.

First of all I would like to thank all of you very dedicated Slough supporters for coming last night, I wish we could get a following like that at home never mind away. I thank the Slough supporters who I shook hands with after the game and wished us well in the next round. I have to say that the first 15 minutes was all Slough, but once we scored our first it was all one way.We look forward to meeting you all again soon.

and it's the point I made in the whole 'Change Of Manager' thread a few weeks back. I'd be prepared to come and watch a few more games if the squad was completely made up of youngsters who wanted to play for the shirt

I questioned whether Steve Daly turned up for training and was assured that he did. If he cannot make midweek games at places like Hayes I personally doubt if he attends training.

Apparently on Saturday Michael Murphy didn't play because he was moving house, where was he last night?

I would have thought last nights game was another good oppotunity for Murphy to get some match fitness?
