in black!Any chance to get more consistent performances out there? frown 10 games played and frankly a bit disappointed about it.It's okay pushing these youngsters through but they have got to be strong and not letting anyone influence their decision making.I learnt to respect referees and understand what tough job they have got but honestly i have witnessed some shocking ones in only a few weeks.Remember this is a complaint that comes from the club that is well behaved and last year won the sportmanship award...but i think enough is enough and bad refereeing has cost us money and points in the league! We can't go on every week hoping that crucial decisions go your way,it's like a lottery! So i decided to fill in a dossier about every single game we'll play and referee, assistant referees performances. What we want is fairness, that's all! flame

I totally,absoloutly,100%,agree with coachie. Its got nothing to do with the fact that a team and its managers are [****!!****] that it loses, its all down to the referee plus a few more factors, like, the laundry woman using the wrong soappowder, the balls are too round,Round goalpost not square, the grass is too green, car park too small, corner flags not high enough, shorts are too baggy, shirts are too tight,I have proberly missed a few but I am sure that people can think of a few more, and the biggest problem of all is that the opposing teams keep turning up it just aint fair.

It's bad enough for supporters so I can begin to understand how frustrating it must be for anyone more closely involved such as coachie.

I think we have to accept that the ESL is a learning zone for officials and allowances have to be made for that.

But it has been obvious for a long time that the attitude of most (all?) referees at this level is to say to their assistants you can signal the offsides and throw-ins but every other decision is to be left to me and your flag is there just to back up what I decide whatever you think.

I am not saying that this is an attitude born of dishonesty but somehow it is genuinely believed that this is how controversies can be avoided when in reality it is the best way to create them.

If all referees were seen to trust their assistants more then everyone would be lots more happier bunnies

I wouldn't say they're all useless because they've never played football. Most are "useless" because they can't speak to people properly, and some can't see stuff right in front of their noses. As for Coachie, he is being a bit of a lemon by keeping a dossier, Mr Chittock the referees assessor is a board member at Hullbridge, so he should really understand that referees try as hard as possible. It would be interesting for a player, or manager to have a go at refereeing a Senior League match, only make sure that the players didn't know, I'm sure a lot of them would have problems not only keeping up with play, but also a lot of the niggly things that go behind the officials back, the moaning from the benches (Bowers, Enfield 1893, and Stansted especially), and the dissent from players, which you can rise to as a player, but have to stand there and take as a referee, and from a little chavvy (Smallsy especially), it's hard to bite your tongue.

One of these threads pops up every other week.

End of the day, referees are on a hiding to nothing, and they can do no right at times...

Its not the easiest job, and it takes some strapped on bollox to go and do it.

I think all we ask for is a bit of consistency, and hopefully common sense will prevail.
