Slough Town 1-2 Gosport

Another loss, but that does not tell the true story.

Only 10 first team players fit to play with one pulled in from Slough Juniors to make his debut and another 2 Slough Junior players on the bench.

Disappointing first half where they scored right on 45 mins, but then Davies equalises just after half-time. We then seem in total control of the game, but could not get in front.

Danny Jefferies, who in my opinion was easily the best player on the pitch then gets a second yellow and sent-off then they score the winner. Very harsh on us as we deserved at least a point.

Lots of questions though, missing THIRTEEN first team players:

- Steve Daly

- Rav Braich

- Craig Faircluff

- Lee Charles

- Jon Mills

- Mark Bartley

- George Moleski

- Lucas Bizon

- Andrew Deaner

- Michael Murphy

- Jamie Jackson

- Matt Pollard

- Clement James

Charles and Moleski injured, and Daly sick but what about the others? We need committed players...

Exceptionally harsh result. Woody, Tel and Jeffires all had great games and we played some decent football and controlled long periods of the game. Tom Attrell came in on the left wing and had a positive debut showing some good touches. Their frst goal came v. late in the first half and looked offside and the winner was also late on and after we were reduced to ten men. Absolutely gutted but those eleven players today can hold their heads high.

Absolutely gutted, a very good team performance but yet again we could not put the ball in the back of the net when we were on top.

That has to be the worst refereeing i have EVER seen, and the linesmen weren't much better!

It's like Taunton all over again, we definately did not deserve to lose that.

Tom Attrell, son of Slough Town legend Garry, is not from the Slough Juniors setup, but the two lads on the bench, who are likely to feature on Tuesday I would think, are part of Tony Thompson's side. Thought Tom had a very good game on the left and will come on leaps and bounds.

From the others on the list, Mark Bartley, Rav Braich, Glenn Faircluth, Matt Pollard and Jamie Jackson are no longer with the club I understand.

Lucas was working and Michael was unavailable as he was away. Jon Mills is also carrying an injury.

I thought Tom had a great game. Had an excellent touch at times, just needs a bit of confidence to take people on - hard with todays game as the ref wasn't helping him one bit.

Out of that list Gary put up I think its a shame we've lost Faircluth and Jackson.

It's good to know that we have not lost all of the 13 mentioned above. I think that after today's performance we still have a squad capable of competing in this league, and can only get better with murphy, bizon, mills, charles, moleski and daly to come back.

I thought Tom had a good game too, he was trying hard but needs to develop his strength as he is very small. Davies was good yet again, as was Woody, Jefferies, and Wilko did well at centre back.

Very surprised to hear that Jacko has gone the others come as no real surprise. If Daly, Mills, Charles, Moleski, Bizon and Smurf come into todays squad we would be in a very strong position.

Disappointed with the result - The ref must have a strong wrist action, because it looks like he pleasures himself alot!

Good team performance and agree with those players mentioned above for their efforts - how old is Tom?

Looking forward to Tuesday, as with a performance like todays we should get some points - as long as the reffing is up to standard!!!

You will do very well to get some points out of Tuesday - considering it's a cup game (according to the league website anyway).

I missed the win against Andover, but this game was the bast I've seen them play this season.

Apart from the last few minutes when we went down to 10 men, the passing was crisp, lots of good running off the ball into good positions, and lots of communication.

I think the players on that pitch can hold their heads up high after that performance, especially as they must have known about the 13 missing players before the kick-off.

For me Woody was my MOTM. Strong in defence, kept a cool head, and some good play up front.

Even Mets had a shot, which after the game he joked that it might bring on a nose bleed !

As BR and others have said, if we carry on playing like that, we will be OK, especially with the other players still around to come back into the side, and a good vocal support to keep them going.

This was also mentioned by some of the Beaconsfield staff who spoke to us after the match, they couldn't believe that we didn't get points from the game.

We shouldn't have lost yesterday, in fact we should have won. That's the true story despite the scoreline and the fact the majority of our 20-man squad were missing.

I missed the Andover win but things really do look encouraging on the pitch. If we can play like that week in week out, wins will come, but we need to convert possession into goals. From the teams we have played in this league, I can't say any of them were anything special, and if we can get our act together we should have no fears - I don't care how that sounds to a neutral. I think in this league you just need to be well-organised and well-disciplined, with a bit of pace and trickery in key areas.

I was extremely impressed by Woodruffe yesterday and it's clear to see the impact Jefferies makes in the side. Tom Attrell has bags of potential and it's great seeing the son of a Slough Town legend on the pitch. Both of them did really well on the flanks. Barnard also looks solid in goal. I just wonder if we're going to rely too much on Wilko in the middle though - we all know he can't play week in, week out but he makes a massive difference in the team.

Should say as well though that despite being the best player on the pitch, DJ was a very silly boy in picking up his two yellow cards. We were well on top when he was sent off and then Gosport's confidence levels rose and they went on to score the winner. Disappointing that he'll now have a suspension.

not sure why he got either of those yellows to be honest, the first for kicking the ball away was exceedingly harsh, he already had his leg half way through crossing the ball when the whistle was blown...as for the second, it must have been for saying something offensive as the challenge he made certainly didn't warrant a yellow card.
