Updates from Maldon

Sqaudron Leader indicated that it was our choice to wear the red/black,after trouble with the ref last saturday.I think if we show the refs our away kit, rather than just telling them 'light blue',they should be fine with it being used against dark blue colours.

Now getting back to the game, i know i am going to be in a minority when i say this, but i'm still not fully convinced about Hasler as permanent goalkeeper.Yes, i know he has been playing out of his skin since being given his chance, but can he keep it up? When maldon crossed or took corners yesterday,on at least four occasions he half came for the ball and was left in no mans land.Luckily we headed away or Maldon failed to conect properly, but he must start to fully committ or stay on his line.Agreed yesterday, his fine shot stopping kept us in the game second half.

I think we must get Stephens fit and get him focused on the job in hand, because i feel he is the only viable replacement for Jones,if we lose him for an extended period.

I'm also still worried a bit about team spirit. Our two forwards, not known for their good mood on the pitch, are still occassionaly verbally abusing their fellow teammates. We need everyone working together, rather than cliques emerging within the squad.

Overall.First half 8/10.Second half 5/10.

Jonah is like a man possesed now he is being given a run in the side, he again was pushing Charlie for the MoM award yesterday.

As others have stated what was that defensive line up about?

Why are we tinkering? why do we not just do the practical?

Paul Campbell's first sorte over the half way line (in about the 75th minute!!} showed just how he should not be stuck in the middle of the park! The boy is far too talented to be wasted messing around playing him all over the place, and yes I know ive said it before but Andy Edmunds.....for crying out loud give him a start.

Jamie Nay was solid & Ricci, who clearly is still not 100% fit, took his goal well & kept busy, the ref was bog standard average, which is about as good as it gets in this league missed the most blatent penalty ever when Hammatt was hacked (and i mean hacked!) down in the box on the by-line, even if like me his vision was slightly obstructed he must have heard it, i did & I think those shopping in Morrisons up the road did too!

All in all a good away point at an unbeaten team in the league this season, but could have easily been 3 points.

Sorry but they did show the kit last Saturday! If their training tells them something you are going to have a reall problem getting a commonsense view to prevail.

Sounds like a good game all up with a slightly disappointing second half.

Watched Australian women(not a bad sport in itself!)get beaten by Brazil in a close shave(really bad pun)..3-2...Most blokes team could use Aussie striker DeVanna...quick..illusiv...and a powerful shot.

Witnessed two all-in brawls (including team attendants) and an attempted homicide in Wangaratta's first Grand Final win since 1976 over a disappointing North Albury (1 and a quarter hours south of Wagga).

Sporting highlight was 35 stableford points and better wood play at Albury Golf Course that morning!

Everyone saw a different game to me.

1) I thought Jamie Nay had an indifferent game and two of his crosses late in the second half demonstrated this.

2) I thought, especially in the first half, Valendia was our man of the match.

3) If AJ has to go off for a couple of months. So be it. No one in this side is indispensible.

4) I agree that Andy Edmunds should get longer on the pitch and I am certain his turn will come. IF AJ goes then clearly AE can link with Ricci up front and Bryan go into midfield behind the front two. Andy Edmunds was not listening to Bryan yesterday when Bryan was calling him to get closer at a thrown in. Andy has a lot to learn and I dont think he justifies a starting place yet.

5) Charlie Hasler is as good as Chopper in his prime but not as good as JJ. He will get better. I dont know whether Richard Heywoor would be better I haven't seen him play.

6) I do agree that PC is wasted in the middle of the defence. I am amazed he had to play there when Dickie was on the pitch.
