ANYONE REMEMBER THIS . . .

Photo taken on a wet and windy Kent floodlight cup game against Dover on 15/11/1961, We made the coffin at Thanet Press and took it to the ground balanced precariously on top of a car. Paraded it around the pitch before the game.

On the left holding the coffin is a soon to be 21 year old AncientBlue.

How can I remember that Harvey I was not even born then. However, Cookie, Alan and Andy Page probally do remember it.

Just checked on Geoff's History Website 7,964 actually attended.

We used to get 2,000 to 3,000+ quite regularly for league games in those days.

And in the mid 1950's Johnny Roche played for us as an amateur alongside Peter Vandepeer, also an amateur, with both representing Kent. Also looking on Jeff's great site you will see that on this day in 1956 we drew in a FA Cup 1st qualifying round 2-2 with Snowdown CW. Roche and "Hawkins" got our goals. Hawkins was probably Dave Hawkins who also played for Kent, in one game alongside Peter Vandepeer and Johnny Roche.

 

Not a lot of people know that.

Failed to mention above that we were 4 printers and another one actually did the lettering on the coffin, and we still spelt Bournemouth incorrectly.
