i hear we have got james smith on loan,he played for us a few times a while ago.we could have lewis smith at right back and harte in midfield.sounds ok to me

The name rings a bell..vaguely. I see from Jeff Trice's history site(last updated in 2006) that he played just the 3 games for us. Anyone know more about him or where he has been plying his trade lately?

That article is 2nd/3rd September. (We played Histon on the 4th)

More relevant is this one which is a couple of weeks old.

James Smith was very good (except for one slip up and an own goal) when he came to us albeit briefly, a couple of seasons ago.

 

Frankly, i doubt whether he would now play at 'our level'.

How about I put in my pennys worth.

Heard on the grapevine a Brentford player may be coming midweek

(midfielder),(Q-Greg_Dyke).

Probably yet another rumour so don't take it too much as being true.We will just have to wait & see.

Cookie no one said that 'James Smith' had signed for us and will be availble for Saturday. In trotty's interview he said that he is very close to signing one player, which maybe could be James Smith, Ross Smith, Alan Smith or Granny Smith. However i do agree with you regarding about it just being a rumour and not to take it to seriously and just take it for what it is.

Alex I wasn't going by what Trotty said but from the original post on this topic (above).It clearly says in that post "on loan" & I took it to mean "on loan" & not "signed".(Did I mention he had been signed anywhere?).
Of course you are right in the that no-where does it say that he would be in contention for a place yesterday even if indeed this rumour were to turn out to be fact.
But if he WAS here on loan I would have hoped to have seen the player at yesterdays game either on the pitch or off of it.That would have been my own wishful thinking there..(Dosen't mean of course that he hasn't been taken "on loan" because he wasn't there).
Bound to be just another "rumour" at the end of the day but how do these rumours come about?. Surely its sparked from somewhere as surely this players name couldn't just have been picked out of thin air.
