Ouch that's shocking. We are still talking about the score rather than the number of Thurrock fans making the trip?

City set to be unchanged

By Kevin Affleck

ST ALBANS CITY FC are expected to name an unchanged team for the visit of bottom club Thurrock tonight (Wednesday).

Mark Beard and Hector MacKie both missed training on Monday night due to ilness but are expected to be passed fit, as is Paul Smith. Marcel MacKie and Ben Martin are still out, though.

"Being able to name the same team will do wonders for continuity," said Hanlon. "If we play like I know we can then we should win. But it's easy to get up for the games against the big boys - we need to do the same against the strugglers."

Hanlon, though, is hugely encouraged by the way his improving side performed against league leaders Lewes on Saturday.

"We played really well," Hanlon said.

"Possession and football wise we were very, very good. They had the better chances and I'd like to say we deserved to win but perhaps a draw was a fair result. The confidence we can get from that result will be immense.

"If we play properly then we have nothing to fear in this league," he continued. "I'm not going to say anything silly like we can win the league but if we can keep everybody fit then we can make the play-offs."

Bit of a contradiction, that? Didn't want to mention it earlier as I thought I'd be tempting Fate, she must've heard me telepathically or something.

I didn't see any Thurrock fans last night and there wasn't any cheering for their goals apart from ironic jeering from the home fans when the fifth went in.

This really is a low point. When we lost 9-1 to Grays we had the consolation that they were a full-time side. Thurrock are little more than a pub team. I'm guttted.

Losing 5-0 at home to Thurrock is pretty embarassing.

At least with Grays they did have a future international striker in their line-up that day.

East Thurrock is a good 10 miles away from Lakeside. Dartford is probably nearer to Lakeside.

Let's just hope you don't have to play Tilbury or Aveley next season!!
