As the piece mentions the severity I can disclose on here how close he came to losing his leg. My information at the time was that he had a severe dislocation of the knee cap that led to pressure being applied to his artery.

 

Had he not had a by-pass then the flow of blood to the leg would have been lost.

 

Hopefully he will make a complete recovery.

Just to join in this thread...

 

My mate broke his leg when I was @ heybridge swifts, and they helped contribute to the hospital fees and some of the rehabilitation he goes through.

 

I guess it depends on the club and what cover / insurance they have.

 

Prob be best to check that our with your club!
