Tiptree Removed From FA Cup

Further to our earlier statements, following a decision taken at Soho Square this afternoon, our Club has been removed from the FA Cup competition for this season, with London APSA being re-instated in our place.

This decision was taken in light of the fact that the FA Cup Sub Committee found that we had played two players without obtaining permission from the Clubs that they are registered with.

The FA were sympathetic to the case put forward by our Club in that both the players in question had been released by Northampton Town and Ipswich Town in July and that these Clubs considered that they had told the players that they were free to go and play for another Club.

However what, as it has turned out, they failed to do was to complete the necessary paperwork and lodge this with the Football Association thereby officially terminating their Scholarships.

Because of this, when it was realised that they had been playing for Tiptree United in the FA competitions, this was in direct contradiction of the Rules.

Tiptree United would like to state that they feel that they received a fair hearing at Soho Square this afternoon and came away with the feeling that the Commission members had tried everyway possible to find a way for our Club to remain in the FA Cup.

We would like to thank Northampton Town and Ipswich Town for all their support and express our gratitude to Sally Webb the Secretary of Ipswich Town, who wrote a letter admitting the administration error within her Club.

Our Club also received support from many other Clubs both in the local area and further afield and would like, in particularly, to single out Stevenage Borough who wrote to the FA indicated that they had also attempted to sign one of the players in question and that, at the time, they too had been advised he was a free agent.

Unfortunately, this situation is likely to be repeated in respect of the FA Vase and the Club anticipates they will be advised whether the same penalty may be imposed in respect of that competition.

We will of course keep you informed. As I'm sure you can imagine, the mood around the Club is somewhat subdued and would ask everyone to rally round and support the team at this difficult time.

We wait with baited breath! Presumably that is down to the Essex FA based on FA instructions/rulings!

Interesting that LAPSA have been reinstated and not a play off between them and Sawbo.

I agree with you TBG... if Tiptree played illegals in both games then then teams they beat in both them games have equal rights?

I am now going on the Sawbo site to get them going on this!

I see from the Tiptree website post above that they are also of the opinion that their progress in the FA Vase will come to an end too for the same reasons as they were dismissed from the FA Cup.

A FA Vase headline (ironic ain't it?) states that Jamie Arlick (one of the players in question) was one of the scorers in their 6-1 win over Sileby Rangers and that they were looking forward to play against Barking in the next round so it looks as tho our league mates will now be at home to Sileby Rangers instead of Tiptree on Saturday week which will, hopefully, be a slightly easier tie for them.

Sileby Rangers link says -

Northampton Sileby Rangers F.C. are a football club based in Sileby, near Northampton, Northamptonshire, England. They joined the United Counties Football League Division One in 1993. In 2000, they changed their name from Northampton Vanaid F.C. to their present name. For the 2007-08 season, they are members of the United Counties Football League Division One.

BTW what has happened to the Barking link on this forum Ian dear chap?

Thing is OB. TU fielded an ineligible player who made a great deal of difference to the result of the tie and picked up the MOM too.

It's ours! It's ours! And we want it back.

If it helps our cause I can do grovel! Where do I point myself? grin
