Hmm... Home to Maidstone. Not a tie I'd have chosen, but could have been a lot worse. Away at hemel, for instance smile

Not a bad home draw...

We'll get a crowd...and hopefully a result.

And Hemel will be looking for another Ryman scalp...

And a comment from Paul Danskin on the Sloppy Box...

Note the team who got the brown envelope in to the FA in time for a home tie

Tipree or Brentwood could complain...couldn't they?

Looks like Maidstone are in the middle of quite a shake-up at the mo. From Non-League Daily:-

Quote:
STONES CONTINUE TO RESTRUCTURE SQUAD

17/09/2007

Joint-managers Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume have continued to restructure the squad at Ryman League Premier Division Maidstone United as they released one more player and signed three new faces.

Following the recent departures of Simon Austin to Horsham, Craig Wilkins to Dover Athletic and Jason Barton to Redhill, Slovakian back-up goalkeeper Michal Czanner has also moved on from the Stones to join Tommy Sampson’s Redhill side.

Czanner was an extremely popular player with colleagues and supporters alike and will be best remembered for his brilliant late penalty save during a 3-2 victory against Fleet Town last season.

Signing on the dotted line for Maidstone, however, are three players from completely different backgrounds.

Replacing Czanner is Australian-born keeper Chris Peck. The 20-year-old has had trials with both Queens Park Rangers and Ipswich Town in the past and has been with A-League side Sydney FC as a trainee for the last three seasons.

Twenty-seven-year-old Portuguese full back Helio Guerreiro comes to the club having played almost all of his football in the Portuguese 2nd Division with Algarve based club Union Deportivo De Lagoa.

Having moved to London earlier this year, Guerreiro opted to sign for the Stones after rejecting an offer from Ryman League Division One North side Waltham Forest.

The third new signing is 23-year-old striker Aiden Ashton. The nephew of former Stones’ legend Ken Charlery, Ashton has blistering pace, but has been out of senior football for over a year having previously been with Dover Athletic.

Another striker will be putting pen-to-paper as soon as his International Clearance has been confirmed.

Twenty-two-year-old Canterbury-born Jamie Maxton is poised to join the Stones after having played last season for Treasure Coast Galleons in the Florida Elite Soccer League.

Joint boss Walker (pictured) said: “Helio has trained a couple of times with us now and certainly looks to be a very good player. Aiden Ashton has devastating pace which is something that we need and Jamie Maxton looks to be very strong and athletic.

“Letting Michal go happened because he felt that he needed to be playing more and at the moment and unless Pat Mullin is suspended or injured, Michal was always going to be second in the pecking order. So, an opportunity to sign Chris Peck arose and to be honest it has suited all parties concerned. Hopefully we will see Chris challenging Pat for the number one shirt very soon.”

Apparantly Debenhams got a "bye" in the previous round 'coz John Lewis Partnership failed to get international clearance on their Continental Quilts.

Continental Quilts??? When did you last hear that phrase? 1971? I'll crawl back under my Duvet.

On the contrary. The Clarets are away to SLP table topping Hemel Hempstead - if they lose there will be no disgrace.
Ricay are at home to bottom of the Ryman Maidstone (already beaten 7-0 at Melbourne Park this season). Now THAT IS a banana skin.

BC, have you been smoking some brand illegal thistle?

But the SLP isn't a "lower league" is it Gazza - theoretically, it's on the same level as the Ryman.
Certainly have not been partaking of the wacky thistle - why, do you know where I could get some?
