Rob Swain moves on.

Rob Swain has been released from his contract by mutual consent; Rob had been with us for several years and was part of the very successful U18 side of two seasons ago which won a League and cup treble.

Of late Rob had become frustrated with being a squad member and is seeking a new club who can give him regular first team football.

I wish Rob all the best for the future, and thank him for his service at our club.

Good luck Big Bob.

That's a bit of a bummer ... Rob is a good player and could easily have filled in at CB capably whenever we needed him but best wishes too him he's a good, tall, strong player with great heading ability and im sure he'll easily find a starting place in a good team somewhere...

... However im struggling to see who'll fill in at CB now Rob has gone, either macca will have to come across or i guess we'll have to get in another CB

Best wishes to Rob in the rest of his career smile

Rob Swaine is a talented young player with a bright future...It's a real shame that he has gone but so be it. With this, as with injuries, we're now operating with quite a small squad, which is a worry...but I'm sure that those that are in a position to effect a change in this area are / will do so shortly.

Best of luck Rob for the future.

It is a shame to see him go as he is a player with the potential to go a long way imo. Unfortunately he is behind Blewitt and Heffs in the pecking order. The move probably suits both club and player at the moment, as it will enable Rob to get regular first team football which is something he needs, and it frees up space in the squad for Matt to bring in a reinforcement, possibly in midfield.

In terms of cover at CB, don't forget Dorms has played there a lot for us in the past, and as is said above we also have the option of having Macca step inside with Semanshia at right back.

I agree with you Si as regards cover but at present take Dorms out of the midfield and we're not just thin there, we're bare... The squad is looking a little spare all round as regrds cover in midfield and defense and we need to look towards pulling in some talent that can deputise should injuries strike or we need to change mid game (a luxury, I know)...

Last season we were boasting of a strong bench, which kept the players on the park on their toes...

That's why I said Rob's departure will give us the opportunity to bring someone in in midfield. Realistically Rob was only going to play in cases of injuries or suspensions, if we can bring in someone who can play centre mid then that gives us another option tactically, which Imo will come into play away from home.

I agree that it's probably a move that will suit both parties. We do have cover in that position already with Macca and Dorms if need be. Rob didn't really grab his chance against Harrow and as Simes said hopefully it will free up some room to bring someone else in.

Rob is a talented young player but similar to the other young lads that haven't quite managed to establish themselves, he needs to decide whether he wants to have a real go at being a proper footballer or would rather spend his time going out with his mates. I see Heybridge have just loaned out a CB, so maybe he'll turn up there.

I wish Swainey all the best, but for me it's another example of talent wasted.

Samuels played 15 minutes centre-mid on Saturday, but I understand he's more right-sided by trade.

Shame to see him go as he was he was a good player and even more so as he had come through the U 18s imo he can do a job at this level but with Heffer and Blewitt in front of him he was only ever going to get a start if their were injuries or suspensions which isn't beneficial to anyone as at his age he needs game time.

Hopefully the money saved on wages could be put towards some reinforcements either a defensive midfielder (said defensive mdifilder could be Samuels but haven't seen enough yet to make a judgement) or someone to cover for injuries to full backs.

Until someone else comes in its a big blow in terms of the quality of replacements on the bench which in my imo was a huge asset to the side last season and is now looking most threadbare this year but hey it is difficult at any level to keep players who aren't getting week in week out football

Not at all oleg, we are just 7 games into our League campaign and no one is going to "need a rest"

Robs opportunity would have came along, no doubt during the season we will suffer from suspensions, injury, etc, and that would have been Robs opportunity to make the place his own.

We had expectations of Rob, he has a great talent, but talent is not enough, if he is to fulfill his potential then he needs to work harder be patient and show respect.

Talent wasted? only time will tell oleg, I really hope Rob doesn't waste his gift. Clubs can only provide opportunity, but ultimately its the player who decides how they view and use that opportunity.
