El Gaffer

Finished work and went to Merland Rise to see what the 'new'Cove were like today and can see why El Gaff is having a hard time at the moment.Banstead should have won this game by a country mile but were 2-0 down and lucky not to have let in a third before a spirited comeback almost saw them get their just desserts.Just one thing Boss, what was all that about at the end? and your mate /assistant just would not shut up.I thought the ref was more than ok(like that Kroons!)the ones to blame were your own team who could and should have had a hatful.I thought you lack a bit of pace at the back ,but your Captain is more than ok and if you don't mind me saying you do not make enough of his attributes.(know what i mean)

Thoroughly good afternoons entertainment .

Yep fair assessment swoons, thought we battered them for 90 mins really and very dissappointed we didnt win. However, being 2 down with 20 mins i suppose you gotta be happy with a point. Should have said hello.

Yep my asst went over the top a little but we had two blatant penalties turned down, both times the ref moved his whistle to his mouth from having his hands down by his side but then didnt blow. His 1st instinct was to blow for a penalty but both times decided not to for some reason. The 2nd was so clear cut is was ridiculous, there's no reason why my player would have gone down otherwise he would have had a free shot and a certain goal.

Certainly not blaming the ref tho as overall he had a decent game and i like the fella, as you have said and as i drilled in to my lot after the game, we should have won by a mile if we had put our chances away.

Some of their players are stealing big money down there in my opinion

I won't get drawn in on the penalty senario save to say if you had finished half of what you created you would have been home and hosed.I thought they were a big side, and the 9 caused you problems all day ,fortunately Cooperman didn't fulfill his reputation and he was offside for the second goal.I was on the other side of the pitch to the dug outs, right behind the lino, who struggled to keep up ,but only on that decision to be fair.Their players and money, yeh, on balance I make you right, but you have got to get on the end of those throw ins, phenomenal.

Nearly decided to attend this game myself, but plumped for the magic of the FA cup and went to Camberley v Colliers Wood. Not a classic it must be said, Camberley with the slope in their favour were 2 up within about 10 mins both by Finniston i think with the CWU defence just watching him score! Should have had his hat trick a couple of minutes later but for a great save by the keeper who tipped it over. Soon 3-0 with a Barnard free kick and that was the score at h/t.

Second half, CWU eventually got a goal back and got some belief and got their second with about 3 minutes to go. Camberley nerves were a jangling at this point but with the last kick they secured the tie with a lovely fourth goal (couldn't see who got it though).

Good luck Camberley in the next round.
